Should Sheriff Dupnik Resign?

According to the Gateway Pundit, the answer is yes:
Since he first opened his mouth on Saturday night to address the nation about the terrible shootings at a Tucson Safeway, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been inaccurate, deceptive, and completely biased in his handling of the case.
Never have we witnessed a prominent public figure so inaccurately and viciously politicize a national tragedy like Sheriff Dupnik did this week. And in all of his statements he has either been wrong or misdirected. This bitter partisan must go.....

Thank you Mr. Bosman! I never thought I would say this last week, but over the past 3 or 4 days, you have become one of the few voices of reason in your camp throughout the blogoshere.

OJ,

I agree that Bos deserves a lot of credit for not seizing on this as a opportunity to score political points. I have a feeling that Bos is justly disturbed by the attempts of the left to use this incident to try to stifle free speech and brand an entire political movement as hateful and violent. Others in his camp deserve credit as well. Unfortunately, some have not displayed the same level of civility. At the risk of starting a flame war, I'll keep the names to myself. They know who they are.

RW - You said “flame war”!!! How violent.
Do they actually allow such rhetoric here?

RE: The sheriff.
Resign is good. Fired next election, just as good.

Thanks OJ and RWN,

For me, this is a politically correct attack on freedom of expression (speech).

As one who doesn't shy away from heavy duty language when trying to make a point or in the heat of debate, I would not want anyone to expect me to have to limit my choice of words, because THEY didn't like it.

Yes RW, Zeek, IG and Hamaca have also shown restraint. Back on the other site, it appears as if a few camps are in a contest to see who be more accusatory of Conservatism of this tragedy.

I say stay! This is a conversation we need. If we can win the next election WITHOUT dividing the country, as we are presently doing, we will have a better country.

This guy was and is right on. Many conservative GOP's are saying the very same thing: Tone it down. On all sides.

Except Ellie, this Sheriff was bombastic himself and he failed to point out what liberals were saying. Further, the shooter did not even listen to Mr. Limbaugh. So if we take the logic to the extreme, it is the failure to listen to Mr. Limbaugh that leads to violence.
