PPP Polling: Obama leads in Iowa. Huckabee and Romney do best.

President Obama beat John McCain in Iowa by nine points in 2008. The state had gone red for President Bush in 2004, but, though always competitive, has otherwise been blue in every election since 1988. Yesterday’s release showed Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney as the leading Republicans in the early caucus race for 2012, and if the election were today, those two are the only ones who would give Obama a bigger run for his money than McCain did two years ago.
Favorable/Unfavorable/Not sure:

Mitt Romney 37/42/21
Sarah Palin 34/59/8
Mike Huckabee 42/39/19
Newt Gingrich 30/49/20

Head-To-Head (Obama/Candidate/Undecided):

Mitt Romney 47/41/12 (-6)
Sarah Palin 53/37/10 (-16)
Mike Huckabee 47/43/10 (-4)
Newt Gingrich 51/38/11 (-13)

PPP surveyed 1,077 Iowa voters from January 7th to 9th. The survey’s margin of error is +/-3.0%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

I always find it interesting that when you post the data, you put Romney's name first. And Huckabee's data is hidden away.

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but Huckabee was first.

Perhaps you might want to check how GOP12 lists the data.

or how ArgoJournal lists the data.

or you can combine the data and read it here.

Not only the order, but Sarah’s numbers are the only ones in red. Is that because she’s a woman and wears lipstick? Maybe it’s her red boots? Maybe it’s because she’s the major threat to your guy and you want to emphasize anything negative you can find about her?

It seems that most undecideds do not break in Romney's favor...so the fact that he has 12% in this poll is not very good for him. The fact that Palin has 10% could be a good sign for her. I cannot imagine that too many people are on the fence on her...most people either like her or hate her...the ones that hate her will never change. Since she has about the same numbers she has had for the past year, the fact that she has 10% undecideds could make it a lot closer of a race in the long run.

How about the fact that she's the EASIEST TO BEAT by Obama and has THE WORSE FAVORABLES!

Is that good enough?
