Newt Gingrich: "if things aren't broke don't fix them"

Newt Gingrich wants the primaries to stay just the way they are and feels that the present calendar gives talented underdogs a fair shot at winning the GOP nomination, calling it an "open and equal-opportunity model.

This from someone who has been raising money non-stop and has just finished trips to the mid-west, northeast, south, and west.

Gingrich added in an interview with Greta after she pointed out his travels above, "This is an enormously open and equal-opportunity model to allow talent to emerge."

Gingrich hasn't been a stranger to the early states. He'll visit Iowa later this month to speak at the Iowa Biofuel and Renewable Fuel Association. Next month he'll travel to New Hampshire.

Don't get me wrong, I love the schedule the way it is. Especially New Hampshire, Nevada, Michigan and Florida, if you get my drift?

I just couldn't help think that maybe Gingrich was feeling a little smug when he was commenting. You know. Like someone in the Top 4 (Romney, Palin, Huckabee, Gingrich) might feel.

Nah!. Newt being smug? Never. It must be me. I can't help but wonder though that when he said, "allow talent to emerge", was he looking at himself in the monitor.

Full story is HERE.

While NH and NV are supposed to be early states, I have never seen it anywhere that MI and FL will be early states in 2012. I might be missing something and I am prepared to stand corrected if so, but with respect, I have not seen where MI and FL were to be scheduled at the front end.

If the schedule remains the same as 2008, they are right after. I think Bosman may be assuming they won't change.

I’ve read a lot of unflattering stuff from Newts past. If only half is true. . .

The media will exploit anything, over, and over, and over. If we’re concerned about any baggage Mitt, Huck, or Sarah, might have, then I think Newt has problems.
