Mitt Romney: Visits the Mid-East including Afghanistan

According to Reuters:
"The purpose of the trip is not to conduct private diplomacy but to give Governor Romney a first-hand look at what is happening in an important region of the world," Fehrnstrom said.

Romney visited the United Arab Emirates on Saturday. He will also visit Israel and Jordan on the week-long trip.

He had a series of high-level meetings planned, including talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan's King Abdullah.
The complete story is here:

It's really beginning to look like he really is going to run. He visited the mid-east late in 2006, just before he became a candidate in 08.

He's definitely in. This trip and meeting speaks volumes.

This is great news. It must be exciting for the leaders of those countries as well to meet the NEXT President of the United States.

At least Prime Minister Netanyahu knows that Mitt will listen to him. Although MR has no official status at this time, it must be refreshing to have someone listen to you. Something that our illustrious President has failed to do for the Prime Minister of Israel, who has only received contempt from President Obama.

Huck seems to be on great terms with Israeli leadership as well.

I am very interested to know who will be going with Mitt on this trip. The advisers he takes with him would be very instructive about his preparations.

This is a huge sign he's in. Nobody does this without intentions of leading the country. I'm very impressed and excited!

According to the WAPO:

The expenses for Romney’s trip are being paid with a blend of personal funds and contributions from the International Republican Institute and the American Israel Education Foundation.

The institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group focused on advancing freedom and democracy. John McCain is chairman of its board.
