Sarah Palin: You're No Ronald Reagan!

Sarah Palin fans likes to compare her to Ronald Reagan on what seems to be a regular bases. The other day, Palin did so as well. Here she is at an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, Around the 2:00 minute mark, she make the comparison:

Well, that rubbed Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan the wrong way. She pointed this out in a recent article in the WSJ. Here is the part of her piece that talks about today's conservatives, Palin, and Reagan:

Conservatives talked a lot about Ronald Reagan this year, but they have to take him more to heart, because his example here is a guide. All this seemed lost last week on Sarah Palin, who called him, on Fox, "an actor." She was defending her form of political celebrity—reality show, "Dancing With the Stars," etc. This is how she did it: "Wasn't Ronald Reagan an actor? Wasn't he in 'Bedtime for Bonzo,' Bozo, something? Ronald Reagan was an actor."

Excuse me, but this was ignorant even for Mrs. Palin. Reagan people quietly flipped their lids, but I'll voice their consternation to make a larger point. Ronald Reagan was an artist who willed himself into leadership as president of a major American labor union (Screen Actors Guild, seven terms, 1947-59.) He led that union successfully through major upheavals (the Hollywood communist wars, labor-management struggles); discovered and honed his ability to speak persuasively by talking to workers on the line at General Electric for eight years; was elected to and completed two full terms as governor of California; challenged and almost unseated an incumbent president of his own party; and went on to popularize modern conservative political philosophy without the help of a conservative infrastructure. Then he was elected president.

The point is not "He was a great man and you are a nincompoop," though that is true. The point is that Reagan's career is a guide, not only for the tea party but for all in politics. He brought his fully mature, fully seasoned self into politics with him. He wasn't in search of a life when he ran for office, and he wasn't in search of fame; he'd already lived a life, he was already well known, he'd accomplished things in the world.

Americans don't want, as their representatives, people who seem empty or crazy. They'll vote no on that.

It's not just the message, it's the messenger.

After reading her piece, I felt the sudden urge to cheer!

Noonan Celebrates GOP Victory by Calling Sarah Palin an Ignorant Nincapoop

Noonan is pathetic, she supported 0bama in 2008, and still supports him. Why should any conservative pay any attention to what she has to say?

Palin isn't Reagan, Palin is Palin, and Reagan was Reagan. My view is that Palin has the potential to be even better than Reagan. I doubt very seriously if she would support amnesty as Reagan did, and she wouldn't appoint someone like Colon Powell either, as Reagan did.

Palin stays true to her convictions, fights the corrupt leadership of her own party, takes on the corrupt media, and does it all with a smile on her face.

Thank you Ms. Noonan for setting Palin straight and telling it like it is. My favorite was,

"He (Reagan) wasn't in search of a life when he ran for office, and he wasn't in search of fame; he'd already lived a life, he was already well known, he'd accomplished things in the world."

Noonan is only now saying about Obama what Palin was saying about Obama TWO YEARS AGO.

Palin wasn't fooled by Obama's con game. Peggy Noonan was. Those are the facts, gentlemen.

Further, Peggy has no right to pass judgement on Palin for one reason: she supported a socialist in 2008 whose sole aim is to undo everything that Ronald Reagan ever did.

Peggy's column is the carping of someone who knows that she betrayed Ronald Reagan's memory, and cannot come to terms with it.

Section9 hit the nail on the head. Noonan is desperately searching for the relevency that she once had. Her future depends on the demise of Sarah Palin. She has yet to figure out that her(and others)snide attacks only make Sarah Palin stronger--eveidenced by her 82% approval rating among likely primary voters. I suspect many of the 18% who disapprove are passionate supporters of Romney and Huckabee who are coming to terms with the threat "that woman" poses to their prospective candidates.

--------------

Peggy's column is carping on someone who knows the difference between both Palin's and Reagan's qualities. To disagree with what she is saying is to agree that Palin is like Reagan. SHE IS NOT, and has a LONG WAY TO GO, before she would have anywhere near the like experience he had before running for President.

Other than views, the only other difference between Palin and Obama is that she is a Republican, At least, for now!

Noonan thought Obama was the ONE. . . .
Sure, we can trust her judgement.

Palin does not look like Reagan at all. But in most other ways, she is very much like him.

Do you mind pointing out WHERE SHE IS WRONG?

I can't wait to be enlightened!

Kelly,

Noonan's premise to her column is WRONG out of the gate.

The electorate did NOT vote for maturity.

They voted against STATISM and the ARROGANCE of the Democrats.

Hear, Hear!

Noonan is spot on.

Again, No one who supports Palin will answer your question. Maybe I can reword it for you:

In Regards to Noonans comments about PALIN ONLY, where is she wrong?

She is no Ronald Reagan. She should be careful of what she says. It sounded as if she was saying what's good for Reagan is good for me to.

If that's the case, she needs to return to Alaska and run and be elected to 2 more FULL TERMS.

ATTENTION ALL YOU DELUSIONAL PALIN SUPPORTERS!

SHE CAN'T WIN IN A GENERAL.

Shame on you for promoting incompetence. How dare you criticize Obama for lacking experience when your candidate of choice is in the same league. Palin= Obama.

She is no Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan brought a resume with him to the Presidency far and above any thing Palin has yet to accomplish in her life. The fact that you, her supporters compare her to Reagan shows your complete lack of understanding as to what it takes to be President of the United States.

If you all persist in your support of Palin, we will have to suffer 4 more years of Obama.

But maybe that is what it will take. Palin will have to run, win the nomination and lose the general and then and only then will her delusional supporters get what 67% of the American public gets today....she is not qualified to be President.

"According to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, just 27 percent of those surveyed see her as qualified for the presidency while 67 percent say she’s not qualified. “Palin appears to have gained little luster from the success of the tea party political movement with which she'd aligned,” ABC News reported. “Just 39 percent of registered voters see her favorably, the most basic measure of a public figure's popularity.”

Shame on you all.
