Huckabee: "Im not going to jump into a pool that has zero water in it."

Alan Colmes interviewed former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee on his radio show the other day. Naturally, the upcoming battle for the right to take on President Obama was the primary topic of conversation.

I've had my doubts for a while now as to how serious Huckabee is about making another run at the White House. Nearly a year ago, he expressed concerns about his status with Fox News if he were to leave and mount an unsuccessful bid. Since that time, he has suffered numerous setbacks. His chosen candidates, in perhaps his strongest states (Iowa and South Carolina), did not fare well during the GOP primary season, and he has struggled to raise money all year.

I found this interview very revealing as to what Huckabee's intentions are. RightOSphere contributor, Texas Conservative, highlighted the following quotes from the interview.
"The one nice thing whether I should decide to run or not is that more people at least would know me by what I actually believe or say as opposed to what my opponent has defined me to be and that is kinda encouraging. If I would have had that opportunity four years ago, things might have turned out differently."

"I see this process for me being much later than earlier."

"I need to see what the field is... I honestly might evaluate and see a person who has a better chance at being elected than me... There are a number of very qualified, capable people who could carry the banner for the Republicans."

"I love the retail end of politics. I hate the glad handing for money. I love talking to people who aren't necessarily the ones who can write the big checks."
One very revealing exchange was omitted from Texas Conservative's report.
Colmes: "You'd like to do it...you'd love it if everything fell into place..."

Huckabee: "That's the big if...I'm not going to jump into a pool that has zero water in it."
He clearly has lingering doubts as to whether he could secure the nomination. I suspect he knows he cannot win if Sarah Palin enters the race. Rather than split the social conservative vote with Palin--therefore allowing his arch-nemesis, Mitt Romney, an easier path to the nomination--it appears as though he will most likely stick with his day job.

This is my first primary. Is Mitt still Huck's arch-nemesis? Was it that bad in '08? He's a minister; maybe all is forgiven.

Ministerial duties are kept bay when the call for higher purpose is in politics and power!

The BIG 'IF' will be if Romney and/or Palin don't jump in. If they both jump in, no room in the pool.

I do not like anything about Mike Huckabee. I'd vote for any Republican over him.

There aren't to many people out there who could jump into a pool with very little water in it and cause an overflow.
