Mitt Romney: Bakersfield Business Conference (10-09-10)

The Bakersfield Business Conference took place Saturday in Bakersfield California. The event took place under a tent with a capacity crowd of 14,000 people. Along with Mitt Romney, other key speakers included Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Sarah Palin, Dick Chaney, and Laura Bush. For a list of speakers, go HERE.

Romney had this to say:
From Bakersfield.Com

The stimulus created government jobs, but not employment in the private sector, Romney charged, causing the loss of 2.4 million jobs.

Obama Care "scared the dickens" out of business owners, causing them to pull back and put a hold on hiring because of the uncertainty, Romney told the enthusiastic crowd.

"Who'd have thought we'd look back at the Jimmy Carter years as the good old days?" Romney said to roars of laughter.

The former governor of Massachusetts lauded the nation's founders, but said he's concerned that Washington, D.C., has gotten so big it is smothering the spirit of those founding fathers. Democrats and Republicans are to blame, he said.

Romney added that he was terribly dismayed to see President Obama going around "apologizing for America."

"There is no reason to apologize for the United States of America," he asserted to loud applause.

But at heart, Romney said, he's an optimist, and is encouraged by the passion and patriotism Americans feel for their country. He said he believes the nation will continue to "rise to the occasion."

As his voice rose to a climax, like a fiery preacher in a pulpit, the audience rose to its feet as Romney declared that "America is and always will be the hope of the world.

When it comes to business, Mitt Romney is in his element. Other than Bloomburg in NY, there is no other politician out there with anything near his background.

Great post Bos. No one else has any videos of this. I don't know how you find all these videos. Some day, you'll have to let me in on your secret.

Do you think you will get the actual Romney speech video?

Hi Nick,

"I don't know how you find all these videos. Some day, you'll have to let me in on your secret."

=========

It's all in the combination of words you use to search and it helps if you know a few people. HaHaHaHa!

I'm trying to get the Bakersfield speech. If I get it, It will post here first.

When are you going to take the plunge and post something. It's much easier than ROS. If you use FLOCK as a browser, it's even easier.

The video with Gingrich being asked if he's running and then referring to his wife, then her back, says it all.

It's much to early. I do believe he will run along with Romney. I'm not sure about Palin and Huckabee. they're young enough to wait this one out. This 2012 campaign, will me Mitt and Newt's last hurrah.

I believe Romney will ultimately prevail.

Cindy,

Perhaps Gingrich was hoping for a good cop, bad cop scenario with his wife. It looks like she didn't want to play the game. I agree, I believe he's in for 2012. His ego will have the best of him.

Mitt Romney is by far the most qualified to lead us out of the economic mess that we're in.
