A Georgia creep smashed through a wall to get into his neighbor’s apartment before he allegedly attacked a 15-year-old girl inside and threatened to rape her in front of two children as she fought back.
Obed Reyes, 29, is suspected of breaking a hole into the sheetrock separating his closet from his neighbor’s residence at an apartment complex in Gainesville, Ga., on August 5, the Gainesville Police said.
Once inside, Reyes grabbed the teen and launched the vile assault, during which he allegedly threatened to rape her and punched her multiple times.
The teen courageously fought off Reyes, escaping the apartment and onto the breezeway of the building, where her screams alerted witnesses who called 911 as the pervert dragged his victim by the hair.
Police arrived just before 10 p.m. and saw the ongoing assault and pulled Reyes off the teen before arresting him.
The depraved suspect left a large hole in the wall between the two units, slipping into a closet in a room the teen was in with two younger relatives, aged 5 and 7, according to photos shared by police.
Reyes, who allegedly lives in the apartment complex, was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, attempted rape, kidnapping, and two counts of cruelty to children, police said. --->READ MORE HERE
Georgia teen staves off attacker after he allegedly broke through closet
Georgia police are commending a 15-year-old girl who fought off a man federal officials allege is in the United States illegally after he reportedly broke through the wall of an apartment and assaulted the teen.
Obed Reyes faces multiple charges, including burglary, aggravated assault, attempted rape, kidnapping and two counts of cruelty to children. Reyes, a Mexican national, was arrested after police say he punched through drywall in a closet from another apartment last week.
Police said that Reyes then allegedly grabbed a 15-year-old girl by the hair and punched her. Reyes then threatened to rape the girl after she managed to escape.
The girl was home babysitting two other family members, who are ages 5 and 7, police said. Reyes lived in the same apartment complex as the teen girl, but police said that the two did not know one another before the attack.
“This young lady did everything right. She went to get help. She ran out. She made a commotion. She fought this offender off as best she could, and she was able to hang on long enough for help to get there,” Police Capt. Justin Martin told a local television station last week.
Witnesses called 911 after seeing a man dragging the teen by her hair and repeatedly hitting her as she screamed during the struggle. Responding officers say they arrived to find the assault still happening and immediately took Reyes into custody.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer with local police at the Hall County Jail since he is allegedly in the country illegally. Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parish praised witnesses for calling 911 quickly and said his officers responded in a timely fashion to take a violent criminal off the streets. --->READ MORE HERE
