The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repelled 189 combat clashes with Russian armed forces nationwide over the past 24 hours, with the heaviest fighting reported along the Pokrovsk axis.
In its daily operational update as of 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, the General Staff of the AFU said Russian forces carried out 70 airstrikes, dropping 224 guided aerial bombs (KABs), and launched 6,564 kamikaze drones alongside 2,260 shelling attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian troop positions.
Pokrovsk axis sees heaviest combat
The General Staff reported 26 Russian assaults on the Pokrovsk axis, where Russian forces attempted to advance near the settlements of Vilne, Kucheriv Yar, Hannivka, Matiasheve, Svitle, Bilytske, Shevchenko, Vasylivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, and Molodetske.
Preliminary data shows 33 Russian troops killed and 15 wounded over the day in that sector alone, according to the report.
The AFU destroyed two artillery systems, four vehicles, one piece of special equipment, two drone control points, and 27 enemy shelters, while damaging three additional vehicles, one drone control point, and 90 Russian shelters.
Additionally, 352 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
Kostiantynivka axis
The AFU repelled 21 Russian assaults near Ivanopillia, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and Novoselivka.
Lyman and Sloviansk axes under pressure
On the Lyman axis, the AFU repelled 10 attempted Russian advances near Shyikivka, Karpivka, Novoselivka, Zarichne, Drobysheve, and Lyman, with one engagement still ongoing at the time of the report. --->READ MORE HERE

In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions , the Defense Forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks. In addition, the enemy carried out one airstrike using two guided aerial bombs and shelled our troops' positions and populated areas 53 times.
Over the course of the day, in the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction , the enemy stormed our units' positions eight times near Lyman, Okhrimivka and Bochkové; two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction , no enemy assault operations were recorded.
Ten attempts by the invaders to advance were repelled in the Lyman direction near Shyikivka, Karpivka, Novoselivka, Zarichne, Drobysheve and Lyman; one more combat engagement is ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction , the Defense Forces successfully stopped 14 attempts by the invaders to advance near Kryva Luka, Zakitne and Mykolaivka.
Two enemy assaults were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction near Dibrova and Vasiutynske.
In the Kostiantynivka direction , the Defense Forces repelled 21 enemy assaults near Ivanopilia, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne and Novoselivka.
The enemy carried out a total of 26 attacks in the Pokrovsk direction .
