Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) revealed Friday that it didn’t take him long to realize Kristi Noem was “dead as fried chicken” after he grilled her on Capitol Hill.
Just hours after a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday, where Kennedy pressed Noem over a $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign she approved as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the senator received a call from a furious President Trump, he told Fox News host Will Cain.
“He was mad as a mamma wasp,” the folksy Louisiana Republican said of Trump’s demeanor.
Noem claimed during the hearing that the president “tasked” her with “getting the message out to the country and to other countries” through pricey commercials that illegal immigrants “needed to leave.”
Kennedy said he was “stunned” that the since-fired DHS secretary testified that the president “approved every single bit” of the ad campaign.
But Trump, after apparently watching the hearing, informed Kennedy that it wasn’t the case.
“He said, ‘Kennedy, I hope you understand that I had nothing to do with this.’ I said, ‘I do believe you, Mr. President,’” the senator recalled during his appearance on “The Will Cain Show.” --->READ MORE HERE

Noem, who is the first cabinet secretary ousted during the second Trump administration, faced pointed questions from committee members on a range of thorny matters, from a recent DHS ad campaign with a Hollywood blockbuster budget to whether she’s sleeping with top aide Corey Lewandowski.
After answering the questions in a way that reportedly left President Trump “mad as a murder hornet,” she was out of a job less than 24 hours later
During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) grilled Noem over a massive taxpayer-funded ad campaign in which she heavily featured herself.
“How do you square that with the fact that you have spent $220 million running television advertisements that feature you prominently?” the senator asked.
Noem replied, “Sir, the president tasked me with getting the message out to the country and to other countries with putting commercials out that if they were in the country illegally, that they needed to leave.”
Kennedy seemed gobsmacked by the possibility that Trump would have approved such an expenditure.
“I’m not saying you’re not telling the truth. It’s just hard for me to believe,’’ he said, implying that the now-former secretary had used the campaign — which she insisted was effective — to boost her profile.
“They were effective in your name recognition,” Kennedy remarked.
“It puts the president in a terribly awkward spot.”
Trump reportedly was angered by the exchange, and with Noem’s claim that he had green-lit the controversial ad campaign, with Kennedy telling reporters the president was “mad as a murder hornet” and had already been considering replacing her. --->READ MORE HERE
