Illegal Cuban Migrant Arrested for Ramming ICE Vehicles, Nearly Mowing Down Agent: Feds; ICE Identifies Man in Vehicle Attack, City Leaders Call for Transparency

Illegal Cuban migrant arrested for ramming ICE vehicles, nearly mowing down agent: feds:
An illegal migrant from Cuba is in federal custody after ramming ICE vehicles in a Walmart parking lot in Texas – and nearly mowing down an agent, according to authorities and video of the disturbing scene.
Robyn Argote-Brooks, 25, was allegedly caught on camera ignoring officers’ directions to exit his gold sedan after getting pulled over in San Antonio on Tuesday, before suddenly flooring the gas in reverse.
His vehicle, which was boxed in by agents’ cars, narrowly misses an agent before he continues accelerating into the feds’ SUV, the footage shows.
Moments later, Argote-Brooks allegedly speeds into the second ICE vehicle in front of him, but is again unsuccessful in escaping the blockade.
An officer who was in the front seat of that vehicle, a sedan, was hurt in the crash, according to DHS, who didn’t elaborate on his injuries.
Agents are eventually able to break the driver’s side window, pull Argote-Brooks out of the car and cuff him on the ground, the video shows.
The Cuba national, who entered the US in October 2024 at the Laredo Port of Entry, was among the more one million migrants who illegally crossed into the country that year under the Biden administration’s “disastrous” CBP One app, DHS said.
At the time, Customs and Border Protection issued Argote-Brooks a notice to appear, then released him on parole while he awaited an immigration hearing, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Texas’ Western District Court.
His parole was terminated in April 2025, the court docs state. --->READ MORE HERE
ICE identifies man in vehicle attack, city leaders call for transparency:
The driver who allegedly used a vehicle to ram ICE law enforcement cars during an attempted arrest earlier this week has been identified as Robyn Argote Brooks.
Brooks, a Cuban national, was taken into federal custody after refusing to comply with commands to exit his vehicle during a targeted stop on January 13 near the Walmart Supercenter on Blanco Road, close to Wurzbach Parkway. ICE officials said he reversed at high speed, nearly striking an officer, before crashing into one ICE vehicle and then accelerating forward into a second, injuring ICE Field Office Director Miguel Vergara.
Video released by ICE shows Brooks surrounded by agents before the ramming incidents occurred. He eventually exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Brooks remains in federal custody as the incident continues to be investigated by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations, and the FBI.
The incident is part of what administration officials describe as "the largest in history" immigration crackdown. Local city leaders are responding to the situation, with a special city council session scheduled for next week to address concerns about local police involvement in federal immigration enforcement.
District 1 Councilwoman Suhk Kaur emphasized the need for transparency, stating, "Majority of us actually have residents in our districts that are affected by this, and the majority of us really care about what SAPD is required to do, what ICE is doing, and making sure that we are informing our residents that they know their rights." --->READ MORE HERE
