Scientists in Turkey found that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine impacted some people's corneas, according to a study.
Scientists have discovered that Pfizer's COVID-19 jab may heighten the risk of severe eye damage, potentially leading to vision loss, according to a new study.
The new study from Turkish researchers specifically looked at how the vaccine affected patients' corneas - the clear front part of the eye that allows light to come in. In 64 subjects, scientists measured changes in the cornea's inner layer, called the endothelium, before taking the first Pfizer dose and two months after receiving the second. Results showed that taking two doses of the vaccine led to thicker corneas, fewer endothelial cells in the eye and more variation in the size of these specialised cells that form the endothelium.
In the short term, these changes indicate the Pfizer vaccine might temporarily weaken the endothelium, even though patients didn't suffer obvious vision problems during the study. For people with healthy eyes, these small changes likely won't affect vision immediately.
But, scientists said that if these changes last for years, they could lead to corneal swelling or blurry vision, especially in those with pre-existing eye conditions or people who have had a corneal transplant. A thicker cornea and reduced cell density may help cause eye conditions like corneal oedema, bullous keratopathy, or corneal decompensation, which can all cause permanent vision loss in severe cases, especially if left untreated. --->READ MORE HEREJoe Rogan confronts Gavin Newsom with ‘tough’ questions on pandemic record: ‘Motherf–ker’:
California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was pressed to defend his COVID-19 record by podcast giant Joe Rogan on Monday.
The Democratic leader, and likely 2028 presidential candidate, appeared on former U.S. Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan’s podcast for a wide-ranging interview about problems facing California as well as Newsom’s personal life and political career.
During the interview, Ryan asked Newsom to respond to a question sent in to him by his friend and fellow podcaster.
“Motherf—–r,” Newsom exclaimed before saying he was a fan of Rogan, who has been critical of the
Ryan warned Newsom it was a “tough” question before reading it aloud: “Who will be held accountable for mandating COVID-19 vaccines for children, which were unnecessary and ineffective, and who will take responsibility for the unprecedented increases in myocarditis and cancer cases among them?”
“Second to that, do you feel any remorse for that draconian decision that was obviously heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical companies’ desire for maximum profit?”
Newsom denied that he caved to the pharmaceutical industry, saying he’s passed “some of the most progressive laws” against Big Pharma in the nation.
He also defended his record on the pandemic, arguing California worked closely with the Trump administration and moved aggressively to mitigate damage from the virus, “like many states, red states included.”
“I mean, Florida shut down their bars and restaurants before California. The question was, when did we start to unwind some of those restrictions? California was more restrictive and we were certainly aggressive at scale,” he said. --->READ MORE HEREFollow links below to relevant/related stories and resources:
