Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 22:

On July 22, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 131 assaults along key front-line sectors, eliminating over 100 Russian personnel and dozens of targets. Russian forces carried out more than 4,000 strikes, including heavy use of aviation, kamikaze drones, and guided bombs, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On July 22, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continued active combat operations against Russian forces along the entire front line.

Over the course of the day, there were 131 combat engagements. Russian forces launched one missile strike and 51 airstrikes, deploying 66 guided aerial bombs (KABs). Additionally, 1,218 Shahed-type kamikaze drones were recorded, along with 4,094 ground strikes targeting Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

Despite the high intensity of attacks, Ukrainian troops continue to demonstrate resilience, effectively eliminating Russian personnel and equipment.

Hottest frontline directions

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces carried out 61 assaults over the past day, attempting to break through defenses near the settlements of Poltavka, Novotoretske, Novoeconomichne, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Zvirove, Udachne, Zelenyi Kut, Dachne, and Oleksiivka. Eight combat engagements were still ongoing at the time of reporting.

Preliminary data indicates 131 Russian troops were killed and 70 wounded. Ukrainian forces also destroyed or damaged several Russian assets, including an infantry fighting vehicle, motorcycles, artillery systems, drones, shelters, and command equipment.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched repeated assaults near Diliivka, Toretsk, Oleksandro-Kalynove, and Rusyn Yar. Ukrainian troops repelled 10 attacks, with two engagements still ongoing. The Defense Forces are firmly holding their ground, preventing any Russian advance.

Situation by directions

In the Northern-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions , since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian soldiers have repelled seven assault actions of the occupiers. The enemy also launched 13 air strikes, using 22 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 234 shellings, two of which were from multiple rocket launcher systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhansky direction , the enemy tried to storm the positions of our units near the settlement of Zapadne.

Three attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenders in the Kupyansk direction in the areas of Holubivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and Zahryzove. A battle is currently underway.

In the Lyman direction , Ukrainian soldiers stopped seventeen attacks by the invaders in the areas of the settlements of Hrekivka, Kolodiazi, Zelena Dolyna, Myrny, Yampolivka, Torske and in the direction of Serebryanka, four more combat engagements are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction , the enemy carried out four offensive actions in the Hryhorivka area.

In the Kramatorsk direction , our defenders stopped one attempt by the invaders to advance in the Chasiv Yar area.

In the Toretsk direction , the occupiers today stormed the positions of our defenders 12 times in the areas of Dyliyivka, Toretsk, Oleksandro-Kalynove, and Rusyn Yar. The Defense Forces are steadfastly holding back the pressure and repelled ten assault actions of the enemy, two combat engagements are still ongoing.
