Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) refused to condemn the killings of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, ducking reporters’ questions.
“I’m going to go for now,” the controversial Somali American congresswoman said Thursday to reporters asking for her response to the slayings of Yaron Lischinsky, 28, and Sarah Milgrim, 26, who were set to be engaged next week.
Soon after stonewalling reporters’ questions Thursday morning, Omar weighed in on the murders on X.
“I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum last night. Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Violence should have no place in our country,” she wrote.
The couple had been attending an American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS Young Diplomats Reception when they were brutally gunned down Wednesday night.
Omar, 42, long a vocal critic of Israel with a propensity for putting her foot in her mouth, has been repeatedly accused by congressional colleagues of making antisemitic comments, including equating the Jewish state with the Taliban and co-sponsoring legislation declaring the founding of Israel a “catastrophe.” --->READ MORE HEREOMAR'S SHOOTING SHAME:
Shocking moment pro-Palestine Ilhan Omar flees the scene when asked about murder of Israeli Embassy staff
Rep. Ilhan Omar shockingly refused to acknowledge the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum overnight that left two Israeli Embassy staffers dead.
The pro-Palestinian congresswoman when asked about the tragedy brushed-off the query despite widespread fury over the anti-Semitic murders – even from other pro-Palestinian members of Congress.
'Congresswoman Omar, can I get your reaction to the shooting that happened in DC last night?' a reporter asked outside the Capitol on Thursday morning.
The progressive Minnesota representative responded nonchalantly as she was walking: 'I'm going to go for now.'
She then briskly walked away from the cameras and reporters.
A few hours later, and after mounting outrage over her lack of condemnation, Omar was forced to release a statement on X on the horrific murders.
'I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum last night,' she wrote.
'Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Violence should have no place in our country,' Omar added.
Overnight, a gunman targeted a Young Diplomat event in Washington, D.C. He shot and killed Israeli Embassy staffer Yaron Lischinsky and his girlfriend Sarah Milgrim, who worked in the public diplomacy department at the embassy.
While it took Omar hours address the devastating attack, fellow progressive squad members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley were swift to call out the act of terrorism. --->READ MORE HERE
