Russia-Ukraine war: Last Frontline update as of September 17:

Since the beginning of the day on September 17, there have been 139 combat clashes on the front, 34 of which are ongoing. Russian forces continue to assault the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Today, Russians launched three missile strikes across Ukraine, using six missiles, 59 airstrikes, and dropping 84 guided bombs. Additionally, Russian troops employed 494 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,338 shellings on our troops and settlements using various types of weaponry.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops attempted to assault Ukrainian units' positions near Vovchansk once. According to current information, Ukrainian defenders in this direction killed and wounded 58 Russian troops, and destroyed two artillery systems, 44 UAVs, five vehicles, and one piece of specialized equipment. They also damaged five artillery systems, one vehicle, and two pieces of specialized equipment.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked our defenders' positions 13 times near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kruhliakivka, Andriivka, Kolisnykivka, Petropavlivka, and Lozova. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 assaults. The situation remains tense, with one clash still ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian defenders 12 times during the day near Cherneshchyna, Druzhelyubivka, Makiivka, Torske, and Nevske. The enemy also used unguided rockets to strike Tverdokhlibove.

In the Siversk direction, Russians attempted two assaults to dislodge our defenders from positions near Verkhniokamianske and Vyimka. Both attacks were repelled, and the enemy failed.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops fended off six attempts by Russian troops to advance near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Klishchiivka, and Bila Hora. Eight attacks were repelled, and one clash continues.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops, with air support, attacked our positions near Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, and Nelipivka 14 times. One clash is still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russians are concentrating their main efforts. Throughout the day, Russian troops attacked 34 times near Hrodivka, Novotoretske, Orlivka, Mykolaivka, Ukrainsk, Oleksandropil, Vozdvyzhenka, Marynivka, and Zelene Pole. Ukrainian defenders repelled 30 attacks, and four clashes are still ongoing. Today, Russian troops lost over 220 troops killed or wounded in this direction. “In the Kharkiv sector, Russian terrorists stormed the positions of our troops once near Vovchansk. According to the information currently available, Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv sector eliminated and wounded fifty-eight occupants, destroyed two artillery systems, 44 UAVs, five vehicles and one unit of special equipment, and damaged five artillery systems, one vehicle and two units of occupant's special equipment,” the Armed Forces said.

At the same time, “the enemy attacked our positions thirteen times in the Kupyansk sector near the settlements of Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kruhlyakivka, Andriivka, Kolisnykivka, Petropavlivka and Lozova. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 12 attacks. The situation is tense, one firefight is ongoing.
