The General Staff reports 110 combat engagements on the frontline over the last day, 46 of them in the Pokrovsk sector. Russian invaders launched 1 missile attack, 76 air strikes and over 3000 shelling.

On Wednesday, August 21, 110 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian invaders took place at the front. The Pokrovsk sector remains the hottest. This is stated in the report of the General Staff as of 22.00 on August 21, 2024, UNN reports .

Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel the enemy's attempts to advance into the depths of our territory, inflicting effective fire damage on the occupiers. It is noted that today the Russian invaders launched one missile attack on the territory of Ukraine with two missiles and 76 air strikes, dropping 100 drones. They also fired more than three thousand rounds at the positions of our troops and settlements.

In the Kharkiv sector , the enemy attacked our troops' defenses five times near Lypky and Vovchansk. Four of the attacks were repelled, and one is ongoing.

In the Kupyansk sector , 16 combat engagements took place near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, Berestove and in the area of Andriivka. Twelve clashes were completed, four were ongoing.

In the Liman sector , Russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions 17 times near Torske, Novosergiyivka, Makiivka, Hrekivka and Serhiivka during the day. Our defenders repelled 16 attacks, and one more is ongoing.

In the Northern sector , Ukrainian troops repelled one enemy attack in the vicinity of Spirne.

Ukraine targets Moscow in one of largest-ever drone attacks on Russian capital as war intensifies:

Ukraine targeted Moscow with at least 11 drones on Wednesday, one of the biggest such attacks on the Russian capital since the war began.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense said it shot down a total of 45 drones over the country on Wednesday, with 11 intercepted over the Moscow region, 23 over Bryansk, six in Belgorod, three in Kaluga and two in Kursk.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said some of the drones were destroyed over the city Podlsk, just 24 miles south of the Kremlin headquarters.

“This is one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow using drones ever,” Sobyanin said on Telegram.

“The layered defense of Moscow that was created made it possible to successfully repel all the attacks from the enemy UAVs.”

Russian outlets aired unverified footage of several drones soaring overhead above Moscow before they were shot down by the Kremlin’s air defense system.

Officials in the regions where the drones were spotted said no deaths or serious damage had been reported as a result of the drone strike.

The attack was reminiscent of the May 2023 assault where eight drones were shot over Moscow in what Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed as Kyiv’s attempt to scare and provoke the Kremlin.
