Texas Will Have Toughest Border Security in the Nation, Abbott Promises Conservatives; Texas Governor Says Border Security Mission Saves Lives Across U.S.; $4.6 Billion Proposed for More Texas Border Security Funding

Texas will have toughest border security in the nation, Abbott promises conservatives:
Third-term Gov. Greg Abbott vowed before a large gathering of conservative policymakers to outperform all other states in securing the border.
“In Texas, we’ll continue to do more than any state has ever done in the history of the United States of America to secure our border,” Abbott said during his keynote address Wednesday afternoon before hundreds of attendees at the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s annual summit downtown.
Of the four U.S. states that run along the Mexico border, Texas has been most affected by the increase in the number of immigrants encountered while trying to enter the country illegally.
In addition to human smuggling facilitated by Mexican criminal organizations, border states are also battling cartels pushing fentanyl into the U.S.
Fentanyl is a man-made opioid up to 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin. It was created as a legitimate pharmaceutical drug used to treat severe pain in hospital settings.
Mexican drug cartels, the Sinaloa Cartel and the New Generation Jalisco Cartel, acquire the precursor ingredients from China and manufacture the final product, then move it across the U.S. southern border and disperse it around the country.
Last week, Abbott’s office announced that personnel deployed to help with border security initiative Operation Lone Star since mid-2021 had intercepted enough fentanyl potent enough to potentially kill 365 million people.
“The Texas Department of Public Safety has seized enough fentanyl that would be enough to kill every man and child in the United States of America,” Abbott said in his speech Wednesday. --->READ MORE HERE

Texas Governor Says Border Security Mission Saves Lives Across U.S.:
Governor Greg Abbott told Breitbart Texas that the state’s border security mission is saving lives across the nation by seizing fentanyl that slipped past Border Patrol and CBP. Operation Lone Star saved more lives by stopping nearly 25,000 criminal aliens from making their way into the U.S. interior, according to the state.
In a one-on-one interview with Breitbart Texas, Governor Abbott explained that the Texas Department of Public Safety seized enough fentanyl to “kill every man, woman, and child in the United States.”
“That’s fentanyl that got past the Border Patrol,” Abbott explained. “And had DPS not been there, there’s no telling how many more people in the country would have died because of fentanyl.”
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Glenn Hegar’s office reports that the efforts of Texas DPS troopers, criminal investigators, and intelligence specialists assigned to Operation Lone Star led to the seizure of 342 million lethal doses of fentanyl since March 2021.
Governor Abbott made the fight against the fentanyl crisis a legislative emergency item during his State of the State address earlier this month. In doing so, he asked the legislature for $4.6 billion to support the border security initiative. He also asked the legislature to codify into law, his executive order designating certain drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
“That gives the DPS and other law enforcement more tools to seize the assets of the drug cartels,” the governor stated. --->READ MORE HERE
