Texas Says 10,000 Migrants Have Been Bused to Democratic Cities; D.C. Declares ‘emergency’ Over Migrants Being Bused into City

Texas says 10,000 migrants have been bused to Democratic cities:
Texas has transported more than 10,000 migrants to Washington, New York City and Chicago since April as Governor Greg Abbott seeks to put pressure on the Biden administration to help alleviate the impacts from a surge in border crossings.
Abbott said Friday that the state has bused more than 7,900 people to Washington in the past five months, sent 2,200 to New York and 300 to Chicago. The migrants, many of whom are awaiting hearings on asylum claims, generally ask to be put on the buses so they can join friends or family in those areas.
Abbott, a Republican, paints the busing program as punishment for Democratic politicians who he says have failed to come up with a plan to address border chaos caused by unauthorized crossings. Texas has spent more than $12 million on the program. Arizona began following in Texas’s footstep in May, and has spent more than $3 million transporting more than 1,500 asylum seekers to the East Coast.
Earlier this week, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public health emergency in response to the buses. She also announced the city would spend $10 million to set up a new office to provide support and services to the migrants arriving from Texas and Arizona.
The mayors of New York City and Chicago have also criticized Abbott’s program and asked for additional federal resources, along with private donations to help support the migrants. --->READ MORE HERE

D.C. declares ‘emergency’ over migrants being bused into city:
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency Thursday over the surge of illegal immigrants arriving in the nation’s capital, calling it “a crisis that is certainly not of our making” and tapping millions of dollars in aid to help house and feed the newcomers.
She said the money will go to creating an emergency office to receive the migrants as they arrive and help connect them with services.
The mayor said she will seek reimbursement from the federal government for the money. She blamed the Biden administration and border state governors for dumping the problem into her lap.
“We have no control on all that is coming towards the District, but we do have control on how we make sure that our values are present in all that we do,” Ms. Bowser said.
She said she was responding to some 9,400 migrants that Arizona and Texas have bused into the District of Columbia since April.
Her emergency declaration seemed to confirm the claims of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey that the current migrant surge is unprecedented and is straining localities in ways never before seen. --->READ MORE HERE
