GOP senators sound alarm over terrorist suspects at southern border:
Republican senators said Wednesday it’s a “near certainty” that terrorism suspects have sneaked into the U.S. over the porous southern border on President Biden’s watch, and they challenged the administration’s claims the boundary is secure.
The senators pointed to data showing the Border Patrol has nabbed 56 people whose names were flagged in the terrorism database since Oct. 1 — a record. They said if that many are being caught, more are getting through.
“Given the unprecedented number of ‘got-aways’ – 500,000 that we know about since last October – it is a near certainty that other individuals on the Terrorist Screening Database have entered the United States undetected, via our open southern border,” the senators, led by Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, wrote in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
They said that’s particularly worrisome given the current threat level to the U.S., with Ayman al-Zawahri, al Qaeda’s leader until he was killed by a U.S. drone strike last weekend, on record pushing for attacks on American soil.
Mr. Mayorkas has said the southern border is secure.
The senators said the secretary must reveal more about his department’s ability to detect and nab terrorists making it across the U.S.-Mexico line. --->READ MORE HERE
50 Migrants on Terrorist Watch List Arrested at US Border in 2022:
Under the Biden administration, illegal immigration rates in states like Arizona and Texas have drastically increased.
In the 2022 fiscal year (October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022), there have already been 1,444,886 encounters at the U.S. border. By contrast, in Fiscal Year 2020, there were only 405,036 encounters at the border.
In this fiscal year, 50 arrests have already been made after it was found that confirmed terrorists migrating across the border were in the Terrorist Screening Database.
That is a stark difference from Fiscal Year 2021, when only 15 terrorists were arrested on the border; in 2017-2020, when President Donald Trump was in office, only 11 were arrested.
However, it’s not just the southern border that has a problem with the threat of terrorism.
On the country’s northern border, it was found that there were 142 encounters with people on the terrorist watch list. Between both borders, the number of terrorists attempting to enter the U.S. totaled 192. --->READ MORE HERE
