More Afghan allies get reprieve as Biden administration ramps up immigration approvals:
The Biden administration this year has stepped up approvals of special visas for Afghan allies who assisted the American war effort, moving to recover from the catastrophe of last year’s chaotic U.S. troop withdrawal and collapse of the Afghan government.
The approval level was still below what the U.S. was doing in the months before the withdrawal, but still showed a decent recovery compared to the near-total collapse of the government’s ability to issue visas late last year.
With the U.S. diplomatic presence in Afghanistan still shut down, those seeking a visa must find a way to get to another country to go through final interviews and pick up their visas once approved. That’s a major hurdle for many Afghans who assisted the Americans and now face rough conditions, including lack of jobs, lack of food and shuttered borders.
The State Department approved 1,103 Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) for Afghans in the first three months of this year, with more than half — 683 — coming in March alone, according to numbers released by the lead inspector general overseeing U.S. counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan.
By contrast, just 358 were approved in the final three months of last year. --->READ MORE HERE
Report: Biden Still Not Using Defense Department Database to Vet Afghans with Potential Terrorism Ties:
President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is continuing to not screen Afghan arrivals to the United States for potential terrorism ties through the Department of Defense’s “tactical database,” according to Republican senators.
Following the U.S. Armed Forces’ withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, Biden opened a refugee and parole pipeline for tens of thousands of Afghans to quickly be flown into American communities without being screened or interviewed in person beforehand.
As Breitbart News reported, a Department of Defense (DOD) Inspector General report reveals that Biden’s agencies failed to properly vet Afghans arriving in the U.S. As of November 2021, the report states that 50 Afghans already in the U.S. had been flagged for “significant security concerns.”
Most of the unvetted Afghans flagged for possible terrorism ties, the report states, have since disappeared into the nation’s interior. In one instance, the report noted that only three of 31 Afghans flagged months ago for security concerns could be located.
Likewise, a recent Project Veritas report alleges that the Biden administration has resettled Afghans listed on the federal government’s “Terrorism Watch List” across American communities. --->READ MORE HERE
