Trump claims Putin would not have invaded Ukraine on his watch:
Former President Donald Trump addressed a raucous crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday night — and reiterated claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin would never have invaded Ukraine had he won the 2020 presidential election.
He also frequently repeated the false accusation that President Biden was not the legitimate winner of the election.
“Under our administration Russia respected America just like every other country respected America, but now Joe Biden is seen as weak,” Trump said. “As everyone understands, this horrific disaster would never have happened if our election was not rigged and if I was the president.”
In customarily cutting remarks, Trump derided President Biden as “bad and weak and grossly incompetent.”
“Putin is playing Biden like a drum and it’s not a pretty thing,” Trump said while also denouncing the Russian invasion a “travesty“ and an “assault on humanity.”
“We are laughingstock all over the world today,” Trump bemoaned. --->READ MORE HERE
62 percent of voters say Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Trump were president: poll
A majority of American voters say that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine had former President Trump still been in office, according to a new survey released on Friday.
A new Harvard Center for American Political Studies (CAPS)-Harris Poll survey released Friday found that 62 percent of those polled believed Putin would not be moving against Ukraine if Trump had been president. When looking strictly at the answers of Democrats and Republicans, 85 percent of Republicans and 38 percent of Democrats answered this way.
However, 38 percent of all Americans polled believed that Putin would have invaded Ukraine even if Trump had been president.
Trump's critics contend that the former president's relationship with Putin was extremely cozy. For example, Trump publicly called for Russia to be admitted to the G-7 and has repeatedly criticized Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has staunchly defended the independence of Ukraine. --->READ MORE HERE
