Biden HHS Awards $77M in Contracts to Nonprofit Cited for Mishandling Children at Border:
In the midst of a border crisis, the Biden administration approved $77.5 million in contracts for a nonprofit to house children who illegally crossed the southern border alone, even though that organization didn’t properly document the release of hundreds of such children during the Obama administration.
BCFS Health and Human Services, a longtime federal contractor for housing children and families, was awarded two contracts by the Department of Health and Human Services that went into effect Tuesday, according to the Federal Register.
One $24.3 million contract is for San Antonio-based BCFS to operate a shelter for unaccompanied children in Los Fresnos, Texas. Another contract, for $53.2 million, is to run a separate shelter in the same city.
BCFS originally stood for Baptist Child and Family Services. The organization is providing a total of 560 beds for unaccompanied children under the federal contracts.
BCFS continued to be a major government contractor following a 2018 report from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General that found problems with the organization. --->READ MORE HERE

Biden Released 5K Unaccompanied Migrant Children into U.S. in November:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released more than 5,000 unaccompanied migrant children to sponsors in November 2021. Another 13,644 are still detained and await similar transfers.
In November, HHS released an average of 179 children against another 366 apprehended near border crossing points daily — showing little progress on rolling detention totals.
According to HHS, the numbers do not include children from Mexico. In most cases, those are immediately returned.
Findings documented within a recent Congressional Research Service report identify the discontinuance of removals under the Title 42 COVID-19 emergency order as the likely cause of the surge in unaccompanied migrant children. The report found that migrant family units are voluntarily sending their children into the United States alone. Once the minor is in HHS care, the relative will enter and claim the child to begin the family re-unification process. --->READ MORE HERE
