Trump accuses Democrats of blocking COVID-19 stimulus over mail-in ballot funds:
President Trump blamed Democrats for holding up a coronavirus stimulus package over demands that additional funds be allocated for the Postal Service and mail-in voting this November.
“They want $3.5 billion for something that’ll turn out to be fraudulent — that’s election money. Basically, they want $3.5 billion for the mail-in votes, OK,” Trump said during an interview Thursday with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business Network.
“They want $25 billion, billion, for the post office. Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” the president continued.
Stimulus talks have hit a stalemate in Congress over the amount of funding for a new spending package, with Democrats proposing $3 trillion and Republicans pushing for $1 trillion. --->READ MORE HERE
Trump blasts Biden’s call for a nationwide mask-wearing order:
President Trump accused Joe Biden of politicizing the coronavirus pandemic at a White House briefing Thursday after the presumptive Democratic nominee called for a nationwide mask mandate.
Trump said Biden’s call for the mandate showed an “appalling lack of respect” for the American people and added the former vice president offered no guidance on how the federal government would enforce it.
“He does not identify what authority the president has to issue such a mandate or how federal law enforcement could enforce it,” Trump said.
Trump said that his administration has taken a different approach, delegating mask-wearing policies to state governments, while encouraging Americans to mask up.
“It’s up to the governors. We want to have a certain freedom,” Trump said.
“If the president has the unilateral power to order every single citizen to cover their face in nearly all instances, what other powers does he have? That’s why he refused, Biden, to take questions, he couldn’t answer any of them,” he added. --->READ MORE HERE.
