If This Happens, Forget Everything You've Heard About the Midterms

If a vulnerable Republican Senator is to be believed, an earth-shattering political event may occur before the midterms.
Most politically-aware citizens know the Republicans are in a difficult position when it comes to retaining control of the House of Representatives. And those paying attention know that the Democrats are going to have a difficult time not only winning the Senate, but actually not losing seats in the prestigious body in the upcoming midterm elections.
These observations are predicated upon the idea that no significant or earth-shattering political event happens before November.
But if one vulnerable Republican Senator is to be believed, that kind of earth-shattering political event may be getting ready to take place:
"Dean Heller knows he’s the most vulnerable Republican senator in the country. But he thinks Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy might just help him hang on to his seat.
“Kennedy is going to retire around sometime early summer,” Heller predicted in Las Vegas last week, according to audio of an event he spoke at that was obtained by POLITICO. “Which I’m hoping will get our base a little motivated because right now they’re not very motivated. But I think a new Supreme Court justice will get them motivated.”

Would a Kennedy SCOTUS departure be just a matter of “tradition” for him?
