According to McClatchy, President Trump may be readying a plan for illegal immigration that would protect “Dreamers,” children brought into the United States illegally, a position at odds with his statements in the presidential campaign in which he vowed to deport them.
The group surrounding Trump that supports Trump’s policy reversal reportedly includes White House chief of staff John Kelly, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, and quite likely Vice President Mike Pence, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, and Gary Cohn, the director of the National Economic Council.
McClatchy writes:
The White House officials want Trump to strike an ambitious deal with Congress that offers Dreamers protection in exchange for legislation that pays for a border wall and more detention facilities, curbs legal immigration and implements E-verify, an online system that allows businesses to check immigration status, according to a half-dozen people familiar with situation, most involved with the negotiations.
Opposing that group are Attorney General Jeff Sessions, White House deputy chief of staff Rick Dearborn, and senior policy advisor Stephen Miller.Read the rest of the story HERE and follow links below to related stories:
