Civility: Alleged comedian Kathy Griffin is getting attacked by her friends on the left, who say she went "too far" with the picture of her holding up a bloody, severed President Trump head, ISIS style. But how is what she did any different from the endless calls to violence Trump's opponents have been issuing since November, without a peep of protest?
At first, Griffin defended the photo, saying she was just "mocking the Mocker in Chief." But then liberal pundits, celebrities and politicians started calling it "disgusting," "vile," "completely inappropriate." Finally, Griffin issued a mea culpa: "I'm a comic, I crossed the line." (Too late, it turns out, to save her New Year's gig at CNN.)

We agree with Griffin's critics. But it leads us to ask: Why does the left think that what Griffin did was beyond the pale, after egging on the steady stream of vile attacks against Trump and his supporters that came before?
