President Trump Proves He Doesn’t Understand Health Care Policy. AND THAT'S THE PROBLEM

Throughout the presidential campaign, Donald Trump made it clear that he didn't understand the way in which healthcare policy functions. He would vacillate between condemning the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), and singing the praises of single-payer healthcare systems in Canada and Scotland.
Just over 100 days into his presidency, Trump has offered no reassurance that his understanding of healthcare policy has developed. As a result, House Republicans have been unable to craft a quality bill that also appeals to the president.
During an interview with CBS's John Dickerson on Saturday, Trump emphatically stated multiple times that pre-existing conditions will be covered under the newest version of the American Health Care Act (AHCA):
"Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I just watched another network than yours, and they were saying, 'Pre-existing is not covered.' Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I mandate it. I said, 'Has to be.' --->
