U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued a statement in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, a case examining Texas HB 2, which established health and safety standards for abortion providers and facilities. The Supreme Court reversed the Fifth Circuit’s decision, ultimately striking down provisions of Texas HB 2.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt is profoundly disappointing,” Sen. Cruz said. “Texas enacted HB 2’s commonsense health standards to ensure that women receive safe care.
