Ted Cruz Campaign Boasts of Crossing $70 Million Mark

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has crossed the $70 million fundraising mark, the campaign said Tuesday, marking a pickup in contributions over the past month.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Mr. Cruz’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe, wrote that the campaign had “just passed $70 MILLION raised!”
The figures were released the same day voters head to GOP contests in Michigan, Mississippi, Idaho and Hawaii.
That total indicates the campaign raised about $15 million in the last five weeks, nearly double what he raised in January. In its most recent report with the Federal Election Commission, the campaign had raised $54.6 million through the month of January. The campaign didn’t immediately offer additional comment on the numbers, other than to confirm the $70 million figure.
Mr. Roe said in his tweet that the campaign had received “well over” 1.1 million donations since the start of Mr. Cruz’s run, with an average contribution of $61.55.
