Homeland Insecurity: It turns out President Obama isn’t just closing the Guantanamo Bay prison for terrorists. He’s planning to move it to America. Don’t believe his reasons for doing it or assurances about safety. It’s all a lie.
Obama announced Tuesday that he is plotting to bring 60 of the 91 terrorists remaining at Gitmo — including al-Qaida leaders and 9/11 operatives — to the U.S. from Cuba.
“With this plan, we have the opportunity, finally, to eliminate a terrorist propaganda tool (and) enhance our national security,” he intoned.
But his argument for doing so belies the truth on every point.
For starters, he claims that the pictures of Muslims shackled in “orange jumpsuits” are a “recruitment tool” for terrorists. But following this argument, housing al-Qaida “martyrs” on U.S. soil instead would only make the terror group more hostile toward us.
“It’s counterproductive to our fight against terrorists, because they use it as propaganda in their efforts to recruit,” Obama asserted. Only, analyses of jihadist propaganda materials show Gitmo rarely mentioned as a reason to attack America.
Don’t worry, Obama says, dozens of al-Qaida terrorists won’t pose any more threat to Americans than the dangerous inmates already held at supermax prisons here.Read the rest of this IBD editorial HERE.
