War On Terror: Despite thousands of Afghan troops, the Taliban we defeated after 9/11 has seized a key northern city and is advancing. How is "ending" the Afghan war working out, Mr. President?
Wars, they say, aren't won on the battlefield but in the minds of people. In Afghanistan, the Taliban is winning on the battlefield because President Obama changed his mind about the "war that we have to win," the war in which he would "make the fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban the top priority that it should be."

After joining the growing membership of the Double-Crossed by America Club, is it any wonder Afghan government troops are not up to fighting a committed, fanatical enemy like the former rulers of their country?
In the radical Islamic outfit's first conquest of a city since being ousted by U.S. forces after Sept. 11, 2001, the Taliban this week seized Kunduz (pop. 300,000), a provincial capital and important commercial center in northern Afghanistan. Hundreds of relentless Taliban outfought thousands of U.S.-trained Afghan soldiers.

The Afghans displayed unreliability this first season without the U.S. helping them in ground combat. It's what Obama was warned would happen if he withdrew our troops: The Taliban is strolling back into power.
