Team Obama issued 2,000 Deportation Reprieves despite Federal Judge's Order Barring Action

The Obama administration has admitted to a federal judge that, despite his injunction blocking President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration, the Department of Homeland Security erroneously issued three-year work permits to about 2,000 people in the country illegally.
In a filing late Thursday, government lawyers said they made the discovery Wednesday and brought it to the attention of U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen, who issued the injunction against Obama's executive action to defer deportation for 5 million immigrants and give them work permits.
"The Government sincerely regrets these circumstances and is taking prompt corrective steps," the government wrote in documents filed with the court.
It was the second time the Justice Department has had to acknowledge that the government told Hanen one thing but did another.
In March, it said more than 108,000 people received the three-year work permits and reprieves from deportation under Obama's Nov. 20 executive order. Though those were granted before Hanen issued his injunction, government lawyers had led Hanen to believe that no such actions had taken place.
While Justice Department attorneys apologized for the confusion, Hanen threatened to sanction the administration, saying the lawyers said made him look foolish.
AG launches probe
In response to the government admission in March, Texas Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton filed a motion to investigate the extent to which the Obama administration had implemented its new immigration policies, despite assurances to the contrary made to Hanen.
Responding to Obama officials' new admission, Gov. Greg Abbott said: "The President's lawyers have been forced to admit that they acted outside the law by implementing President's executive amnesty, even after a federal judge had ordered them to stop. His lawyers' actions show a blatant disregard for the rule of law."
