Jeep Wrangler owners are paying an average of $1,134 a year, Insure.com says. Two other Jeeps also show up in the top 10: Patriot Sport, coming in second, and the Compass Sport in sixth place.
The list is dominated by crossovers, minivans and off-road vehicles like the Jeep. Only vehicle that would truly be classed as a car, the tiny Smart Fortwo shows up in ninth place.
The rankings look at car insurance rates for more than 1,500 vehicles. But rates vary widely across the country. The survey noted that the same buyer of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler could pay as little as $694 a year in Maine or as much as $2,027 in Michigan.
