Mitt’s Moment

He fixes problems; we’ve got ‘em.
___________________________________________

Mr. Romney never really fit his assigned part
as Gordon Gekko or Milburn Drysdale.
When other private equity pioneers were
turning their millions into billions,
he left to RESCUE the Winter Olympics.

There’s NO MONEY to pay for BIGGER
and BIGGER Government.
There’s NO MONEY to PAY FOR the Government
we’ve already promised ourselves.

BANKRUPTING the NATION to PAY
for HEALTH CARE is not an option.

IF we do nothing, IF entitlements remain UNREFORMED,
the MONEY simply will be WITHHELD to PAY for them.

You’ll still be entitled to that knee operation
at taxpayer expense. Good luck finding a doctor
to perform it. The WAITING LIST will be long.

Our world that’s coming is a world of narrowing,
not widening, CHOICES.
It’s a world that suits
Mr. Romney’s SKILLS and history,
his knack for OPERATING within CONSTRAINTS.

The consensus for PAINFUL REFORM comes
when the status quo hits the wall.
It’s a myth that we don’t know what our choices are.

That’s the ROMNEY MOMENT.
His strong suit has always been
TO DO what everyone else has put off.

MITT ROMNEY says:I CARE about MY PEOPLE.
……………………………………………………………………

Gruber is taking entirely too much credit
for Massachusett’s health care.

Romney was open and careful
including democrats and republicans,
health care professionals,
insurance industry representatives
in crafting his HEALTH CARE program.

Took a couple years
until they GOT CONSENSUS
and it was NOT FORCED THROUGH,
there were no deals or kickbacks.
98% of legislature on board.

It was designed for a very blue state.

Gruber was only MINOR PLAYER.
A little consultant among many.

Obama would have been better off
to consult with Romney about it, rather than Gruber.

Romney would have said
block grant to the states rather than
try to administer the BEHEMOTH [ ObamaCare ] plan.
Its cheaper to give money to the UNINSURED
than to dispense health care through
a TITANIC FEDERAL HEALTHCARE System.

Romney did it the right way,
taking money they were already getting
for HEALTHCARE for the POOR and
PROVIDING INSURANCE for THEM instead.
No death panels — in — the 70 page bill.

Makes you WONDER
how Obama can even compare his MONSTROSITY
to the more modest reforms in Massachusetts.

Romney is his own man !
______________________________________

This is on Romney’s 2012 web site:

In place of Obamacare,
Mitt will pursue policies that give each state
the power to craft a health care reform plan
that is best for its own citizens.
The federal government’s role will be
to help markets work
by creating a level playing field for competition.

Restore State Leadership and Flexibility
……………………………………………………………………

Mitt will begin by returning states to their proper place
in charge of regulating local insurance markets
and caring for the poor, uninsured, and chronically ill.

States will have both the incentive and the flexibility
to experiment, learn from one another, and
craft the approaches best suited to their own citizens.

• Block grant Medicaid and other payments to states
• Limit federal standards and requirements
on both private insurance and Medicaid coverage

• Ensure flexibility to help the uninsured,
including public-private partnerships,
exchanges, and subsidies

• Ensure flexibility to help the chronically ill,
including high-risk pools, reinsurance, and risk adjustment

• Offer innovation grants to explore
non-litigation alternatives to dispute resolution

Promote FREE Markets and FAIR Competition
……………………………………………………………………

COMPETITION drives IMPROVEMENTS
EFFICIENCY and EFFECTIVENESS,
offering consumers HIGHER QUALITY GOODS
and SERVICES at LOWER COST.
It can have the same effect in the health care system,
if given the chance to work.

• Cap non-economic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits
• Empower individuals and small businesses to form purchasing pools

• Prevent discrimination against
individuals with pre-existing conditions
who maintain continuous coverage
• Facilitate IT interoperability

Empower Consumer Choice
……………………………………………………………………

For markets to work,
consumers must have the information
and the power to make decisions
about their own care.
Placing the patient at the center of the process
will drive quality up and cost down
while ensuring that services are designed
to provide what Americans actually want.

• End tax discrimination against
the individual purchase of insurance
• Allow consumers to purchase insurance across state lines

• Unshackle HSAs by allowing funds
to be used for insurance premiums

• Promote “co-insurance” products
• Promote alternatives to “fee for service”
• Encourage “Consumer Reports”-type ratings
of alternative insurance plans

F Y I — For Your Information:

OUR ECONOMICS PROFESSOR was
giving a lecture on high interest rates.
He announced that
the true cause of our country’s economic woes
is that too many people are hooked on opium.

We were sure that he had flipped out
until he continued, “Yes, the problem is
addiction to OPM — other people’s money.”

It’s The Debt, Stupid

On a moral level,
we are placing a tremendous obligation
on future generations

that will unfairly limit the prosperity
they can enjoy tomorrow
in order to finance our consumption today.

______________________________________

The fundamental failing of today’s global:
Too Much Debt.

We have taken too much of DEBT on, too fast,
in too many markets around the world,
to have any hope of MAKING GOOD ON IT.

In the USA alone, total credit market debt
stands at over $57 trillion
and is doing its damnedest to continue expanding exponentially.

Since simple math shows us that this debt level
cannot be supported,

the key questions to ask at this stage are:

Will the unsupportable debt
disappear via default, or inflation?

And very important:
When these debts do disappear,
who will take the losses?
