ObamaGRATION: Support drops for ‘path to citizenship’ for illegal immigrants

American’s support has waned for immigration reform that gives illegals a path to citizenship, and more voters now trust Republicans than Democrats to handle immigration, according to a national survey.
Support for immigration legislation that offers undocumented residents a path to citizenship has fallen from 64 percent in April to 53 percent this month, found a Wall Street Journal/NBC poll released Wednesday.
Opposition to granting citizenship to illegal immigrants rose from 34 percent in April to 45 percent this month, according to the poll.
Meanwhile, more voters are looking to Republicans for leadership on immigration issues, with 35 percent saying the GOP would do a better job on immigration and 27 favoring Democrats. Back in December, the poll showed that Democrats had the advantage on that question, 31 percent to 26 percent.
