3800+ Young ILLEGALS could Cost Florida $40 Million to Educate

A new federal agency report says that 3,809 illegal alien kids, known as UACs or Unaccompanied Alien Children, were relocated to Florida counties over the 7 month period Jan. 1 to July 31 of this year, 2014.
A total of 3298 of them were relocated to just 10 Florida counties who each received at least 50 children. (see table below). Nationwide, almost 37,477 UACs were relocated.
Cost per year to educate Florida UAC’s is $40.7 million or more: If you multiply the 3,809 new unaccompanied alien children in Florida, assuming they are all enrolled in public schools, by the average cost of $8,700 (see this source) plus my estimate of as much as $2000 more per kid since they don’t speak English to educate them per year, you get a surprise unfunded mandate of $40.7 million [($8,700 + $2,000) * 3,809 = $40.7 million].
At a minimum, with education costs at the same per student level of $8,700, we are looking at a cost of over $33 million to educate the unaccompanied alien children.
