Ex-Port Authority Official Has The Goods On Chris Christie - "He Knew"

The former Port Authority official who personally oversaw the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge in the scandal now swirling around Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey said on Friday that the governor knew about the lane closings when they were happening, and that he had the evidence to prove it.
In a letter released by his lawyer, the official, David Wildstein, a high school friend of Mr. Christie’s who was appointed with the governor’s blessing at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls the bridge, described the order to close the lanes as “the Christie administration’s order” and said “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference” three weeks ago.
"Mr. Wildstein contests the accuracy of various statements that the governor made about him and he can prove the inaccuracy of some,” the letter added.........

Proof looks weak so far. I guess we'll see what evidence he really has, but I'm skeptical. Is Gov Christie that dumb to go out and do the 2 hour press con, if he knows there's proof? I doubt proof exists. Plus, anyone with a brain must already know Christie knew. Of course he did, for crying out loud.

Martha,

As it relates to his political future, do you really think it matters how strong the evidence is? We'll see what Wildstein has, but Christie's goose was cooked two weeks ago. This is just another log on the fire.

I thought there was already a question about when Christie knew, and that he had contradicted himself in the press conference. I thought you mentioned it too. But it didn't go anywhere at that time, for some reason. Am I misremembering?

Anyway, if there's no actual evidence, this can possibly still blow over. Not saying I want it too, just that in a few months from now, people might not care a whole lot.

Personally, I would like ALL the deadwood discovered and thrown out as soon as possible so we can actually nominate the best person.

Haha. Maybe everyone, one by one, is going down, and leave Mitt Romney standing. Hope so! And yes, I mean this with all my heart. Do I think it will happen? Nope.

The field stinks. Rand prob can't run, Rubio and Paul have pretty much lost their shine, and likely won't even run. Kasich and Walker are bland as hell, without any gravitas at all, and Jindal is just weird. Martinez? Untested. Pence, I don't know him well. Huck proved he can't be trusted with the stupid libido remark. Heavens, what are we going to do. Sorry, Cruz is too unlikable. He simply cannot appeal to most people.

Looking for a white knight, I guess.

It's either going to be Jeb or Ted. Take your pick.

Ryan doesn't seem eager to get in from what I can tell. And if continues down this amnesty road, he will join Rubio in the dog house.

I've been saying all along the field is weak and we need someone else to come forward because I do not see any way we'll win with the current field. Unless something changes dramatically, we are in trouble. I am not wishing ill will on our party, it is simply how I feel right now. The good news is it's still early.

I'll take Jeb hands down if that's the choice. It's not even a choice. And I don't like Jeb. Actually never had any opinion either way on him. But I don't think that's the end game. Heavens, how depressing would that be.

Joel, it's funny how views change. This field used to be so considered so hot! What happened? We got a good look at each of them. So far, not so hot.

Yep, that's what we need. Another Bush. Imagine how easy it will be for the left to draw up the attack ads.

Right Wingnut said...

Nothing will motivate the left MORE than another Bush on the ballot. Besides that, he's not that conservative.

Right Wingnut said...

Martha, Does Jeb pass you eye test

Right Wingnut said...

Lol. Jeb said immigrants are more fertile.

RW, why the snark? I thought you turned over a new leaf. Oh wait, that was me. :-)

Immigrants do have more children. That is the only reason our birth rate isn't worse. Right now were on the line. My solution is for conservatives to all have 3, 4, 5 or more children and let the liberals die out. It's our only hope.

Martha, it's just that you frequently comment on appearance, hair etc. Frivolous stuff. but very rarely policy positions of the candidates.

Right Wingnut said...

They may have more children, but that does not mean they're more fertile.

RW, no I really don't comment on appearance at all. Maybe one out of 1000 times? I don't know what you're talking about other than I think Cruz looks like a villain. I've said that a few times. And yes, I did comment about Palin's appearance from time to time. Not her attractiveness, but the way she chooses to present herself. I was critical of that.

I like Ryan, yes. But that doesn't mean I think he's attractive. My daughters actually think he's rather ugly. I've never given his looks a thought. You shouldn't accuse me of that, of all people. That's not me. For instance, Christie used to be one of my favorite guys. He's anything but attractive. I think it's a sexist assumption you're making about me, without any merit.

But then I know you're just being you, getting a rise is your thing. Whatever. ha ha. You usually do it when you have nothing else.

While we're on the subject, you should tell Cruz to cut his hair, and the grease. It's really creepy.

It's well established that policy positions are not a major factor in your candidate selection process. You claim to be a full spectrum conservative, but rarely hold their feet to the fire when they go left in us. Ryan is a perfect example.

Right Wingnut said...

What does Ryan put in his hair to make it so shiny and wind resistant? Actually, never mind. I really don't care! Lol

RW, Well-established from what? I am what I am. I have, and will always support the most conservative people. If Ryan goes bad, I will not support him. Romney was always a full spectrum conservative, no matter what his opponents like to claim. Plus, I've only supported Ryan very mildly, and mostly because the rest of the field is horrible. And yes, Ryan's hair is awful sometimes, like the other night, lol.

Right Wingnut said...

That's what I'm talking about. I saw Ryan's interview the other night, and have no clue what his hair looked like. Must be a woman thing.

ha ha. Maybe.

Jeb or Cruz. I would much rather have Cruz as president. That's not even close. Question is, who is most electable. The CW says it's Jeb, but I'm not sure.
