Chris Christie Implies Support For Amnesty

Chris Christie held a photo-op yesterday to celebrate his signing of the DREAM Act (in-state tuition rates for illegal aliens) in New Jersey. A number of things transpired that lead me to believe he would give the green light on broader amnesty legislation on a national level.

Those who oppose the DREAM Act are 'cold-hearted,' according to Christie.
..."Even if you're cold-hearted about this, you can agree with the common sense of the economics: An investment made should be an investment maximized," he said.
Recall how that worked out for Rick Perry in the 2012 primary cycle. The following photo tells you all you need to know about that.

Christie applauded when a Latino activist implored Congress to pass an amnesty bill.
...Christie applauded when Perez called on the United States Congress to "follow the example of New Jersey" and pass immigration reform this year....

And he went on to bash Washington, D.C. for not being able to get things done on immigration. He did everything but verbally express support for full blown amnesty for illegal aliens. But he didn't have to. Any objective observer can read between the lines. There will be no backtracking. He owns it.

'Cold-hearted,' eh?

Here's an idea. When an illegal shows up to register for college, the entire family should be deported. Laws are laws.

RW, that IS cold-hearted.

I can't seem to drum up much outrage over illegal immigration. I know in theory how wrong-headed amnesty is, but I have never seemed to feel the passion that some on the right have about illegals. I feel for these people, and especially for their children who are here through absolutely no fault of their own. I hope we don't pass any immigration reform right now because it would only be giving Obama a victory.

I'm already sick of Christie poking the eyes of Republicans in Congress! His arrogant and mocking nature isn't going to sit well! I He, like Cruz, is condescending and rude. Paul is also, just not as badly. Interesting that these three men are at the top of the polls. I don't think it will last long, but it sure promises to be a nasty primary. Which IS NOT going to help us one bit. I have a hard time believe this is the way American's want their politicos to act.

Isn't there a name for persons repeatedly uploading articles about a singlular person?

Some of these children don't even know they were not born in America. Their parents get fake socials for them before they're old enough to know. This happened to my child's friend. He was a great student, popular, successful, a leader. He was about to finish college, and one day, out of the blue, was arrested on campus and swooshed off to Mexico with his father. He didn't even speak Spanish! Went through a year or two of hell trying to get back. Now he is here and I'm glad.

That doesn't make me a RINO because I feel that way. I continue to believe that there are good solutions to immigration that can please both parties. (Remember when Dan posted some a few years back.) But Washington is so dysfunctional that they never seem to get around to appropriate solutions.

I fear there is going to be an earthquake within the Republican party over immigration, and that would be a huge huge mistake for Republicans.

Martha,

I guess I agree with Mitt Romney's position on amnesty and lower tuition rates for illegal aliens. That is the one issue where I believe he was somewhat consistent, although it did seem as though he tried to straddle the fence a in a couple interviews several years ago.

There's no fence sitting with Christie. It's clear that he's all in.

Yeah, whatever RomneyMan. I'll be compiling posts under label "Christie Vetting" so people can be directed to a comprehensive collection of info about Christie's record during the campaign. Consider it a public service.

Martha, you cannot not even produce one example of Mr. Cruz being rude. Perhaps you just a problem with Hispanic Canadians.

OJ, Cruz has said a lot of rude things about other Republicans. I guess what I don't like is that, more often than not, his enemy is other Republicans, rather than democrats. Plus, he comes off as arrogant and condescending to me.

The bottom line is that he is one of the few candidates to actually promote capitalism and free market in Health Care. He is also for lower taxes. Anybody who cannot promote such policies is a non-starter. This country cannot afford much more non-sense.

lol, so repeatedly uploading articles and an laser-like following of a singular person upon an internet site is called "vetting" now is it? lol, I thought it was called something else.

Cruz has never been rude? Let's see, where to begin? How about this example? I am sure some might consider the "french kissing" comment as comical, however I would categorize it as being rude, plain and simple. While it got him a few laughs from his supporters, it demonstrates his lack of lack of professionalism.

Ohio JOE said...

That is the best you can come up with. This is the first I have heard of the so-called French kissing episode.

Yeah, Cruz also implied that Mitt Romney didn't show any disagreement with the president and didn't rock the boat. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is what stinks about politicians. They LIE. Cruz is no exception. He knows as well as I do that Romney contrasted himself with Obama until he was blue in the face. But, sadly, the truth wouldn't work as well for Cruz as the lies do, to foment his base.

Too bad Romney was not a superhero, with no faults! Too bad he couldn't magically make Americans start paying attention, or make them start actually caring about the disastrous direction Obama had taken the country. Too bad he couldn't give Obama some truth serum, too, so that Americans could have realized that ObamaCare is a gigantic farce.

If we were to rule out everyone who was critical of the Romney campaign, there would be nobody left to run.

Right Wingnut said...

Maybe that's why Martha likes Ryan.

"He knows as well as I do that Romney contrasted himself with Obama until he was blue in the face." Now that is funny! The Romneyites never learn!

RW, One of the reasons I Like Ryan is because of his temperament and demeanor. He doesn't rip on other Republicans. He, like Romney, takes the high road. I've like Ryan for a long time, long before Romney chose him to run. I don't know if he has the chops to win the nom or the presidency, but I wish more politicians on our side were like him.

RW, here is some more fodder for you, validating the reasons why Christie didn't make the cut for VP:

Martha, yes I just read about the latest on bridge gate. Not a good day for Christie.

This whole illegal immigration debate is a bunch of malarkey. My direct male ancestor got on a boat in 1732, and came on over. He didn't know if he was legal or not. I doubt if all of our ancestors were checking with the British Crown before coming on over.

Bottom line, if you're here, and are not a criminal, let them stay and issue a work visa, unless some of you are ready to start picking lettuce. Use those newly legalized immigrant numbers as an offset against new immigration. I'm not nearly as enamored of 'legal' immigration as are most people. No poor Mexicans are going to take my job, it's those H1B visaholders that bother me. They jumped the line, and didn't have to work their way up in America.

Ted Cruz's tongue-in-cheek remark that "Romney French-kissed Obama in the final 2 debates" was HILARIOUS, and even more importantly, it was ABSOLUTELY TRUE(figuratively speaking).

The proof is in the pudding: Romney's 7-point lead in the Gallup poll after the 1st debate, COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED following the 2nd & 3rd debates.

Virtually every post-debate poll showed that Romney LOST the last 2 debates, due in large part to his love-fest with Obama, especially on foreign policy issues, where Obama was, as they say in the military, a "TARGET-RICH ENVIRONMENT".

Some of you Rombots need to read up on American history - our nation's Founding Fathers said FAR WORSE THINGS about each other than Cruz ever said about Romney.

The Founding Fathers fully understood that robust, vigorous, confrontational debate - within political parties and between political parties - was ESSENTIAL to a healthy democratic process.

Politics ain't beanbag. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. (to coin a phrase or two)

"our nation's Founding Fathers said FAR WORSE THINGS about each other than Cruz ever said about Romney." Shhhhhhhh, don't tell them the secret.

CRUZ COUNTRY said...

Bridgegate is FAR WORSE than Watergate, IMHO.

4 days of traffic gridlock in Fort Lee, New Jersey caused a lot more pain and suffering to We The People than a bungled break-in/ wiretap of DNC headquarters in 1972 ever did.

Furthermore, there was never any evidence that Nixon ordered the Watergate break-in/wiretap, or even knew about it beforehand, whereas there is a TON OF EVIDENCE that Christie ordered the GWB lane closures for the purpose of PUNISHING the Fort Lee mayor for not endorsing the governor's re-election bid.

I find it hard to imagine how Christie can possibly recover from this scandal. The conduct of he and his deputies STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN, and represents everything that voters DESPISE about politics and politicians.

Today is a GREAT DAY for Jeb Bush.

It's an even BETTER DAY for Ted Cruz.

For Chris Christie, not so much.

cimbri said...

OJ, it wasn't very smart of Cruz to rip the nominee a few weeks before the general election, but then, I'm very sure he didn't want Romney to win anyway.

Right Wingnut said...

Cimbri, Cruz's comments took place AFTER the election.

cimbri said...

You're right, he said that at the Federalist Society meeting. Kind of a strange thing to say before such a distinguished group.

Anyway, I'm getting geared up to vet Cruz and Hillary. War has been declared.

Right Wingnut said...

Have at it. Ask Bosman to set you up.
