A 'Very real' Mitt Romney emerges from New Netflix Documentary (Includes interview with Romney adviser)

The long-awaited documentary giving the public a revealing and often painful look at Mitt Romney’s six-year White House quest finally comes out today — without the blessing of Romney’s failed campaign team.
While the Netflix film forces Romney and his family to relive the tearful moment when they realize they lost the 2012 election, the entire Romney family plans to attend the premiere of “Mitt” at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, according to Tagg Romney, the eldest son of the former Massachusetts governor.
Romney and his family gave the filmmaker, Greg Whiteley, complete access and creative control of the movie, but Romney’s political advisers did not want it released, Tagg Romney said in an interview with the Herald.
“I don’t think anyone from the campaign will be (at the premiere),” Romney said. “We’re a bit nervous. None of us have seen it yet, but I have total confidence in Greg. I wanted him to put this film together and for it to be very real.”
The documentary is the latest venture by Netflix, the former video rental venture now producing highly acclaimed original content. Whiteley, who, like the Romneys, is from Utah, was allowed to shadow the candidate in his 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

That is an interesting interview with Romney adviser Ron Kaufman. So it appears, they wanted to do the movie around the 08 Campaign and Romney's team was against it.

,,..WHICH MEANS..that if they had made it then..THE SAME WAY...it would have been already out for the 2012 election...What a mistake that was..

The Romney campaign made mistakes. They were flawless.

Everyone and everything else was to blame.

Yeah, but do you think it really would have made a difference. I don't know. Maybe. But when you take everything together; the rightwing media's relentless beating, Obama cheating, Obama's IRS suppressing conservatives, etc, it was a stacked deck against Mitt no matter WHAT he did.

Plus, the convention was short-changed, and then the capper: Sandy came along with Christie throwing Romney under the bus. Lotta bad luck, right at the wrong times! I still think Americans were too ignorant back then to realize the consequences.

ARRRRGGG! This is still painful! And the movie is only going to make it worse for people like me--who still believe Mitt Romney is the man America needs.

PS. Anyone who comes here to trash Mitt today just better check themselves. I'm sick to DEATH of the nonsense about Mitt being weak, and 2012 winnable. Just wasn't so. NO ONE, not a single Republican who is alive, could have won in 2012.

Indeed, and of course, nothing at all to do with Romney's campaign...lol

No, I agree, it had nothing whatsoever to do with Romney and the Romney campaign. They were flawless. Everything else was to blame.

"the rightwing media's relentless beating, " because he was overall distrusted by the conservative base. And recall Romney's own words:..." as Romney suggested he never felt comfortable in the race. He passed on something someone at headquarters had told him: "In some ways, we kind of had to steal the Republican nomination." source: http://washingtonexaminer.com/in-new-film-a-dramatic-look-at-mitt-romneys-loss-of-confidence/article/2542430

"Obama cheating" yawn

" the convention was short-changed," Thankfully, as it was appalling and embarrassing.

But yes, blame everything else. Always a good place to start and finish.

Anyone who came out of the dysfunctional Republican nomination process in 2012 would have lost. We need everyone on the right to be a lot more patriotic and unified next time. Stop forcing the candidates to take absurd positions that only 5% of the electorate supports. Put aside your egos and help your country.

Just like the bitter and dysfunctional '08 Democratic primary you mean, that dragged on way after the GOP nomination was all but sown up?
OB excited is base- big time, big difference.

and sorry, also ran a dynamite wining campaign.

Now compare and contrast.

In 2008, you get a turnover in parties at the presidential level, after 8 contentious years under Bush 2. Poor comparison.

A lot of people try to compare campaigns and years, and it never makes any sense. While there are patterns, for example - it's extremely difficult to beat an incumbent president, every campaign is unique and has its own circumstances.

Cimbri you are absolutely right.

People seem to be mad at Romney for not being perfect. They expected the impossible. No one can do that.

"Rightwingers must stop forcing candidates to take absurd positions that only 5% of the electorate supports" ~ Cimbri

You've got it backwards, Cimbri. It's LEFTWINGERS like yourself that keep forcing our candidates to take absurd positions - such as amnesty, citizenship and voting rights for tens of millions of illiterate, uneducated, poverty-stricken invaders from Third World countries - that only a tiny fraction of the electorate supports.

He will not even be invited to speak at our next RNC CONVENTION. Get lost, Willard!

Cruz county... you have it completely backwards.

The conservatives don't control enough votes to win an election on their own.

Reagan was VERY aware of this.

Fact is, no one mentioned so far for 201 has any chance.

Frankly, I hope Romney changes his mind and runs again. He could well be our best chance.

Obviously Romney and his campaign made mistakes. What made the election so frustrating was that every mistake Romney and/or his campaign made made was magnified, portrayed as the worst mistake ever, even if it wasn't a mistake. On the other hand, any mistake made by Obama or his campaign was overlooked, minimized, and ignored, even if it was really damaging.

I personally believe that had the election coverage been fair, had the election process not been tainted with fraud, Romney would have won in 2012. It's possible he would have lost anyway, but I really doubt it.

I see RomneyMan is showing his usual lack of understanding politics. :D

Very true, Mach. Biden or Obama got away with some humdingers much worse that the 47% said in a private gathering. Plus we had some people like CC piling on and helping the msm.
