Paul Ryan Dismisses Idea that Budget Deal Derailed any Presidential Ambitions

Paul Ryan, the House Budget chairman and architect of the bipartisan budget deal, dismissed criticism from Tea Party groups and conservative activists who suggested his political ambitions would be tainted by the bill that passed the House on Thursday night by a wide majority.
“People always say, ‘Well this could hurt you with your future ambitions,’” Ryan told ABC News. “If I’m not good at this job, why should I ask somebody for another job?”
Ryan, who has been one of the party’s leading voices of conservative fiscal policy and was the GOP vice presidential nominee last year, forcefully defended the budget accord. He said it was short-sighted for other potential Republican presidential candidates to assail the agreement,
“My job is not to cloud my judgment with personal ambition. My job is to do my job and that is things like this,” Ryan told ABC News. “If I have to stop myself from doing what I think is right to become president, then I don’t want to be president.”

I believe him. This is why I think he is one of only a handful of true statesmen.

Ryan's chances of EVER being on the GOP presidential ticket again went UP IN SMOKE when the 2012 ticket lost his home state of Wisconsin, and he knows it.

All he's doing now is trying to hang onto his seat in the House and his role as one of John Boehner's main flunkies and yes-men.

When Wisconsinites finally wise up and boot his corrupt rear-end out of office, he'll become a lobbyist for crony capitalist corporations, just like his mentor and fellow squish Jack Kemp did when he left Congress.

Cruz Country, you can't believe your own post. Ryan is the best we have. Flunkie. Come on. He has been the point man on everything, and his ideas have passed the House. Cruz and the others are just posers running for president on the tax payers dime.

Cimbri -

Ryan couldn't even win his home state of Wisconsin for the GOP ticket.

The same Wisconsin that has a REPUBLICAN governor and a REPUBLICAN senator.

The same Wisconsin where McCain-Palin & Bush-Cheney - none of whom has Wisconsin roots - did BETTER on election day than Romney-Ryan did.

Ryan's been a "point man" alright - a point man on budget-busting spending proposals that would drive our country into the fiscal wall just slightly slower than Democrats do, and a point man on AMNESTY for tens of millions of illegal aliens that would severely damage our job market, our safety, our schools, our hospitals, and perhaps worst of all, turn the Democratic party into a national majority party forevermore.
