Obamacare could increase cost of Employer-Sponsored Health Benefits Next Year

The cost of employer-sponsored health benefits barely increased this year, but could jump significantly in 2014 because of Obamacare, according to a national survey.
The survey of 2,842 U.S. employers shows the average total health benefit cost per employee increased 2.1 percent this year, down from an increase of 4.1 percent in 2012. The average cost per employee was $10,779 in 2013. That includes employer and employee contributions for medical, dental and other coverage.
The annual survey released today is conducted by the Mercer consulting firm.
It shows employers expect health benefit costs to increase next year by 5.2 percent.

Some larger employers will take steps to control growth in enrollment by making workers pay more for dependent coverage or employee-only coverage.

Mine already did for 2014.

Deductibles used to be ZERO. They are now $300 per individual/$900 per family.

In addition, I currently have a 90/10 plan. Next year it will be 85/15 with higher maximum out-of pocket limits.

And...copays went up $5.

All told, it could cost us anywhere from $1000-2000 more, depending on how often we need to use the insurance next year.

It stated right in the enrollment packet that the increased costs are due to ACA (ObamaCare).

I work for one of the largest companies in the US.
