The Enthusiasm Factor at the State-Run Obamacare Exchanges isn't much better than the Federal-Run Exchanges

At least 38,000 people have signed up for new health plans in the state-run insurance exchanges that opened Oct. 1, while more than 100,000 have completed applications and are close to finishing the process, according to state data.
The data, tabulated by The Wall Street Journal, provide an early but incomplete glimpse of how the centerpiece of President Barack Obama's health law is faring. They show that health-law supporters are still a long way off from making a significant dent in the nation's uninsured population, but suggest that the prospect of buying insurance without being asked about medical history has drawn considerable interest across the nation.
The data come from the 14 states that are running their own insurance exchanges, where consumers can shop for coverage. But the state figures are incomplete. The federal government, which is running the exchanges on behalf of the other 36 states, says it won't release enrollment data until November.
Of the 14 states with their own exchanges, only two states have reported substantial numbers of actual enrollees. Kentucky said over the weekend that "over 9,500 Kentuckians count themselves among those as having new health insurance as a result of Kynect," the state's name for its exchange. Washington state said late Monday that about 25,000 people have completed enrollment.
Other states haven't given enrollee numbers, but they have provided data on completed applications to determine applicants' eligibility for federal subsidies. Many of those seeking coverage on the exchanges are eligible either for Medicaid, the federal-state program for the poor, or for federal subsidies to purchase policies sold on the exchanges by private insurers.

Indeed, just as 'enthusiastic' as the 'enthusiastic' GOP who capitulated and got neither a delay or a defund lol

Now that's 'enthusiasm'.

I don't see how it gets to 7 million by Feb. Heaven willing they don't even come close. This is the best way to kill it.

We had the same issues in 1965 as Medicare was rolling out. All these issues will get straightened out and in the end we will all love Obamacare as much as all of you enjoy your Medicare.

Here's a clue Martha, it's not going anywhere, nothing can kill it. The vast majority of Americans want Obamacare. We're tired of paying $900.00 per month for two adults to have insurance that denies almost everything the doc orders. I feel like this is more of a black issue with you people than anything else.

The numbers of those who signed up is Embarrassing for Team Obama and laughable.

I'm glad that THE YOUNG are smart enough not to be suckered in to this ponzi scheme that they get screwed on.

Without them enrolling in large numbers, and a minimum enrollment of 7 million this Train Wreck will derail on it's own.

Bosman, yup. I'm telling every young person I know to stay far far away. But they don't need me to because they know the difference between $95 and $1200, in spite of our public school system. lol

There are libs at work openly mocking ObamaCare. We just got the annual enrollment packet last week, with higher deductibles, copays, etc. It states right in the packet that it's due to ACA (OCare).

Ignorance has reached an all time high with this group. I am very happy with the policy I'm getting. Much better coverage and at a reasonable price....and NO preexisting conditions.

I didn't realize we here in Wales qualified for Obamacare?

RW, I think more and more liberal are going to get louder about how lousy it is. Or they will secretly be hoping Republicans find a way to do something.

It's very interesting. I only go into the office about once per week. That is where the libs are. On Tuesday, someone mentioned the higher deductible, and an openly gay lib said sarcastically, that it's "all because of that damn Obamacare. A couple of other joined in the pile on. Two of the most outspoken libs just sat silently, pretending they didn't hear the conversation, but they know. I pretty much kept my mouth shut. Believe it or not, I try to avoid discussing politics with libs at work. I was absolutely floored at how negative they were about Obama and OCare. That said, I don't expect them to vote for a Republican any time soon.

These are not your run of the mill libs. They are activists. Not exactly low info voters. And they are pissed.

Agree with the above comments. Time is on our side.I hate to see Americans suffer during the ACA train wreck, but it's a necessary evil.

Time is on OUR side. Obamacare is just like Medicare...here to stay and we're thankful for both.
