Many of the children are dying from cancer, and view the weekly visits from the dogs as the highlight of their week. I'm very familiar with therapy dog programs. They are fully funded and staffed by volunteers.
Feel the pain!
The Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health has suspended its dog therapy program because of the government shutdown, according to John Burklow, spokesperson for NIH....
...In an Oct. 3 interview on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition, Abbey Whetzel talked about her son, Sam, who is dying of leukemia and enjoyed it when he was visited by the dogs.
“They can only come once a week, but it's the highlight of Sam's week,” Whetzel said, adding that she was informed that the dogs would not be visiting because of the government shutdown.
“He was disappointed,” Whetzel said. “He really looks forward to the dogs coming. “He has a special fondness for the little dogs that can come and just sit on his bed and lay down and curl up with him,” Whetzel said....Meanwhile....

RW, I think it's foolish for Obama to continue doing this, but apparently he's going full steam ahead on the scare tactics. Isn't it starting to backfire? Seems like to me.

Plus, just heard on FOX that the families of the 4 military killed in Afghanistan are not being flown to meet their loved ones bodies being flown back, and are not being given the $100,000 death benefit.
Actually, when I saw that headline last week, I wondered what would happen. Now we know, and it's utterly unbelievable.

Obama will talk, sure. As long as we pass a clean CR, and raise the debt ceiling with no strings. Then they can talk with GOP. So, what would they then have to talk about? lol.
He thinks the American people are stupid. And maybe they are, we shall see.
