Obama Officials In 2010: 93 Million Americans Will Be Unable To Keep Their Health Plans Under Obamacare

The Obama administration knew that under ObamaCare, there would be massive disruptions of the private insurance market. In a June 2010 edition of the Federal Registers, administration officials estimated that around 93 million Americans will lose their health insurance under ObamaCare.

Read the entire article by Avik Roy in Forbes.com here.

Essentially, the administration predicted that 51% of the employer-based market, plus 53.5% of the non-group market - around 93 million Americans, would face cancellations. Apparently, the hundreds of thousands of cancellations already reported are just the tip of the iceberg.

It's a good job that, in the end, 95% will be unaffected. Acknowledging the (underscore) 5% who are of course.

Wait until the 40% Cadillac policy tax goes into effect in 2016.

Zzz

All wait,wait,wait.

You'd think it was 100% now going by the way the GOP are moaning.
Not 5% with the possibility of it increasing by tomorrow? No, by the next Olympics lol

RM, I hate to have to point this out to you, but 93 million is not 5% of Americans.

Phoney figures.

RM, did you read the article? lol. Your 'phony figures' comes straight from the Obama administration. Plus, the 93 million is their middle estimate. Try to keep up.

I don't believe it's anywhere near 93 million (it's in truth more like 12-15 million) but if you want to believe them, knock yourself out, Martha honey. Bless your old and bitter heart.

The 5% number is being trumpeted by the media to hide the fact that it will be far, far more. It occurred to me yesterday that's what they were doing, because those estimates don't include employer sponsored plans that are/ will go belly up. I believe AZ reported that happened to her family. She's not included in the "5%" estimate. And it won't all happen overnight. We'll probably won't know the full effect until the 40% tax on Cadillac plans hits in 2016.

Carney said it's 5% and 95% can switch off. He's the right hand man of the administration, so he'll be the one who knows.

"The facts:
This is an issue that, for the most part, affects a small segment of the country."

"According to experts, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, about 95% of legal residents receive their health insurance through group plans offered by their employers, the federal government in the form of Medicare and Medicaid or get direct health care via the Veterans Administration. For the overwhelming majority of people covered by these plans, there probably will be no change"

Again, RM. Did you read the article? Until you do, maybe you should hold back comments. The 93 million estimate is FROM THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. It's THEIR NUMBER.

Jay Carney's job is to cover Obama. He has to lie every single day. Its in the job description, lol.

Open your eyes.

MARTHA AND THE FACTS ARE NOT A GOOD COMBO AND HAVE NEVER BEEN.

Our employer based insurance is being cancelled at the end of this year. We have been told that we will be enrolled in a similar plan next year. Just exactly what that means, I don't know. My husband's company is never forthcoming with details. We could end up with the same plan with the 45 abortions and abortifacients the administration thinks are necessary to be properly covered, or we could end up with a higher deductible, different doctors, less coverage. Just the uncertainty is bad. This grab to take over 1/5 of the economy by the govt is going to be far more extensive and invasive than you and your cronies think, RM.

I didn't lose my employer sponsored plan yet, but my family's costs will increase $1000-3000 next year..........for what? To pay for abortions and sex changes? Tell me, RM. What am I getting for the extra money I'm paying? Barack Obama told me my costs would go down by $2500.

There's an article on startribune.com about 140,000 Minnesotans losing their individual policies. The 300+ comments are the most I've ever seen on a Strib article, and they 're mostly negative against OCare. The most shocking thing to me is that the thumbs up are outnumbering the thumbs down almost 10-1 on the comments blasting OCare. This is a very liberal newspaper, whose website comments are typically overwhelmingly liberal in nature. Last I checked, Drudge didn't link it either, so I have to assume it isn't going over very well in my progressive state thus far. Go check it out if you don't believe me. Startribune.com.

AZ, amen.

RW, maybe there is some hope, after all, that people will get fed up, and see Obama as the liar and socialist he is.

The IRS didn't do it, Benghazi didn't. But a pocketbook will.

I think Obama probably laughed that it was going to be called the AFFORDABLE care act. The joke is on us!

Healthcare is very personal to people, and when people find out they aren't going to keep their plan, will no longer have access to their doctor, and will be subject to enormous deductibles on these exchanges Obama and the Dems forced upon us, ideology goes out the window.

Right Wingnut said...

Martha, always listen to what Obama says, and assume that the exact opposite is true. "Affordable" means "grab your wallet."

yup.

I noted that the first comment Obama made when the rulings came down about the demise of the Defense of Marriage Act was to comment that churches will never bee forced to marry gays against their religion. Every time the man speaks, he ends up declaring his next move--by assuming just opposite. He and his people hate the idea of freedom of religion, and they will not allow it to stand. Still hasn't been a single waiver for religious reasons from Obamacare; shows where their priorities are.
