ICYMI Vladimir Putin op-ed: A Plea for Caution From Russia

RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.
Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.
The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.
No one wants the United Nations to suffer the fate of the League of Nations, which collapsed because it lacked real leverage. This is possible if influential countries bypass the United Nations and take military action without Security Council authorization.
The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, will result in more innocent victims and escalation, potentially spreading the conflict far beyond Syria’s borders. A strike would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism. It could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa. It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.

Like I wrote in the other post, Obama has SCREWED UP EVERYTHING imaginable. Did you ever think ONE LOUSY president could do so much damage? I think he has surprised even his worst critics.

Before everyone starts getting all gushy over Vlad...Let's be honest here folks....Putin is a hypocrite and turd in his own right. As one who has done his own thing since coming to power, his praise now of the U.N. is laughable.

Now he's talking about giving defense missiles to Syria YET OBAMA caved on defense missiles (European Interceptor Site (EIS)) in Poland when Putin whined.

Any other President with a pair of aggies, would have put this AHOLE in his place...a long time ago.

He ONLY has any type of stature now because we're comparing him to Obama....Well who the hell wouldn't have stature when compared to Obama?

Yup. Obama has given up America's place in the world in three years. To the point where Putin of all people, mocks us, and the world laughs.

And heck no, we couldn't vote for Romney! He's a RINO!!!

He was too naive! Too clean! Too regular! Too smart! A rich guy who doesn't understand America!

And now we have so-called conservatives telling us what a terrible candidate he was and how the mess the GOP is in is ALL HIS FAULT.

Well thanks a lot!
