Chris Christie and President Obama Bond Again along the Jersey Shore

With handshakes, a little ribbing and a few tosses of a football along the Jersey shore on Tuesday, President Barack Obama and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie showed they still put a lot of faith in bipartisan chumminess.
Their last meeting on the shore, after superstorm Sandy and just before the November presidential election, yielded praise for Mr. Obama from one of the GOP's most recognizable governors. But the pre-election timing left a sour taste among some Republicans.
The two met again Tuesday to view a rebounding shore. They strolled the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach and tested their throwing arms at the
"Chris Christie is doing what he has to do for the state of New Jersey," said E. O'Brien Murray, a New York-based GOP consultant, noting that the governor faces re-election in November. "But the minute he leaves the state, it is all about 2016, and this thing with Obama could hurt."

Indeed, who the hack to they think they are pushing the people of Jersey above politics. Shame on them. Who cares about the ordinary folk, livelihoods lost etc. It's pathetic. It's got to be about scoring political points...this side does that, that side does this. In addition, the electorate just loves heavy partisanship. They hate politicians that put politics beneath people.

Like the last time, Christie is over playing his hand with these Obama photo-ops and praise. If he wants to President in 2016, he may be scoring points with Dems and Independents but seems to be ignoring the fact that he NEEDS THE BASE to win the GOP primary.

I wouldn't underestimate Christie's ability to smack down attacks in a debate. Add the potential of big donors drawn to him, if he runs he may surprise.

Bos,

He also needs the BASE to win the general election, as was proven this past November. ;)

Photo Ops with Obama is NOT a strategy to win the GOP nomination. Christie already not invited to CPAC. If Christie is running for 2016, it is as a RINO.

The difference between being a conservative and a RINO is national suicide, and the destruction of the party of Lincoln.

You know Christie has really disappointed me. He's not the guy I hoped he was. But it will be a crying shame if our party doesn't come together for the strongest candidate next time--which may well be Christie.

It's the people who stayed home and allowed Obama to win who really suck! If we allow that to happen again, we are just plain stupid.

I wish I never heard the word RINO again.

Martha,
Christie is our weakest link.

There is no way he can win. I would NEVER vote for him. I didn't like him much before... now I cannot stand this trader.

Christie should do himself a favor... change parties... your done as a member of the GOP.

RightWingnut,

Romney had the base vote. Anyone that sat at home is NOT a base voter but an extremist that unrealistically wanting someone in office that would have no chance of winning an election. aka Santorum, Gingrich, Palin, et al.

For anyone that sat at home... all you did in effect was to vote for Obama. You got something much worse than what you said you didn't want.. you got Obama.
