Are Men becoming self-centered slobs no longer interested in the American Dream?

Are men “checking out” of society? Dr. Helen Smith argues in her new book, “Men on Strike,” that males in our society are boycotting marriage, fatherhood and the American dream. The dynamic of the American family is changing, as reflected in a recent study that shows women are the primary breadwinners in four out of 10 households. But is society to blame, as Dr. Smith argues, for less men taking on the responsibility of caring for a family than ever before?
Dr. Smith writes, “[The] new world order is a place where men are discriminated against, forced into a hostile environment in school and later in college, and held in contempt by society. Maybe there is no incentive to grow up anymore. It used to be that being a grown-up, responsible man was rewarded with respect, power and deference. Now, not so much.”

I am very disappointed in the way our society treats men, especially white males. Women can and should be able to succeed without disparaging men in the process, but that never seems to be the way leftism works. Women wanted to choose whether to care for children or work, but now women who stay home and care for children are viewed alternately as imbecile or priveleged. I can think of numerous examples.

Thank you for the good men who are in my life; thank you to the good men in the world at large that make it a better place. Thanks to some of the men on this site, who seem like they are pretty decent men..... (except for their language every so often:-))

Marriage and women aren't worth the trouble. If being a bachelor is good enough for Jesus then it's good enough for me.
