Talk of Immigration Bill TRIPLES the number of those trying to enter illegally

Migrants ride on top of a northern bound train toward the
U.S.-Mexico border in Ixtepec, in Oaxaca, southern Mexico.

Arrests of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States have nearly tripled in recent months in anticipation of Congressional efforts to enact comprehensive immigration legislation, border patrol agents told CBS News Wednesday.
“Once the first group gets across, they call their family, they call their friends and let them know, ‘Hey the time is right, come on over,’” Border Patrol agent and union representative Chris Cabrera told CBS News.
In March, 7,500 illegals were arrested in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, which includes McAllen, Cabrera told CBS News. That’s up from 2,800 in January.

..in Texas, Juan Mercado has seen more illegals crossing on the border property that his family has owned in McAllen since the 1850s.
“I’m being invaded by people who have no permission to be on my property,” Mercado told CBS. “By smugglers, by illegals.”
Mercado now is relying on his own security system: a gun.
“I get a clip and it’s ready to go,” he said.

The border security needs to come first. No stupid promises, just do it. Those of us who live near the border understand that. It will no longer be "Remember the Alamo." The cry will be and is becoming, "Remember1986!" We are fools if we don't insist Congress protect our sovereignty BEFORE changing immigration rules. I think legal immigration is bad and needs to be revamped, but they cannot move to change current illegals' status without protecting us from the hoardes of people who will come once we roll over and legally change illegals to legal. We must protect our sovereignty first or it will be more like an invasion than ever. Long live the United States of America. I'm not too find of the Estados Unidos that my state will become if we can't get Congress to understand that this is our land. Not only did we fight for it, we bought it with money, too.
