Dick Cheney on Benghazi: 'When we were there (Bush Administration), on our watch, we were always ready on 9/11, on the anniversary,'

Former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized the Obama administration on Tuesday for its handling of the September 11, 2012 terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, calling it 'a failure of leadership.' Cheney said U.S. leaders should have been better prepared for violence on the anniversary of the al-Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001.
'They should have been ready before anything ever happened,' Cheney told MailOnline exclusively during a party in Georgetown celebrating the launch of a new book by former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
'I mean, it's North Africa - Libya, where they've already had major problems,' Cheney said. 'You know that al-Qaeda is operating there, and you have some of the other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups there like Ansar al-Sharia and others.'
[...]
Cheney said that the George W, Bush administration made a point of ramping up security at military bases, diplomatic outposts and other American facilities worldwide each year on September 11.
'When we were there, on our watch, we were always ready on 9/11, on the anniversary,' he recalled. 'We always anticipated they were coming for us, especially in that part of the world.'
'I cannot understand why they weren't ready to go,' the former two-term vice president said of the Obama administration.

'I've heard senior officials in the Obama administration say, "well, we didn't know what we'd be sending them into, so we didn't send 'em." Hogwash!' Cheney exclaimed. 'Those guys train for that. They're damned good at it.'

I AGREE!

What bothers me about Benghazi:

1. They were denied extra security when they were pleading for it, and in a place that OBVIOUSLY needed it!

2. They did NOTHING to help save our people, and said they couldn't get there in time, when they didn't even know how long the attack would go on.

3. Obama and Hillary were AWOL all night!

4. Obama went to a fundraiser the next day.

5. They LIED TO THE FAMILIES about the cause when the bodies came home.

6 They lied to EVERYONE about the cause for what 2 weeks? When they knew the cause the moment it started!

7. Obama said the future does not belong to people who denigrate the prophet of Islam!!! This one makes me particularly angry, but they all do.

8. Did anyone bother to get in there and start investigating? The person thought responsible was released, and NO ONE has been arrested.

8. The press participated in the LIES / COVER-UP by having the administration's back, and refusing to investigate.

9. HILLARY SAID WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?!!!

10. Now these GREAT PEOPLE who testified and told the TRUTH are being smeared and dismissed!

I am so angry about all of it that I can't see straight. I hope the damn breaks, but I'm not hopeful. Any bets Jonathan Karl will lose his job at ABC? I guess he will probably play nice and go back to being a good little reporter.

Mr. Obama,

HOW ABOUT IF THE FUTURE DOESN'T BELONG TO PEOPLE WHO KILL AMERICANS?!

This all makes me angry, too. Especially Candi Crowley's intervention in the debate where she slapped Mitt down when he was making a point about the terrorism. She should never work as a reporter again. Mitt was right and Candi was wrong.

Anyway, one of the reasons this didn't get investigated immediately is because Susan Rice went on tv right after the Pres. of Libya called it a terrorist attack and contradicted him. This made relations between the US and Libya so tenuous that the FBI couldn't get in to investigate. Hence, we had CNN to take care of all that for us. I feel so much safer knowing this, don't you?(sarc)

Talk about politics, this it's the dems in power who turned this whole thing into politics, and Chris, Tyler, and Glen were the sacrifices on the altar. The other guy might also have been as well. The press is right; this is all about politics. Beginning with their "One Who Can Do No Wrong."

AZ, I agree.

I just wish reporters would do their damn jobs and stop covering for the worst president in my lifetime. And yes, unbelievably, that includes Carter. At least Carter was not a BIG FAT LIAR! And I honestly think Carter would have cared about the 4 Americans who were killed. Obama is cold and callous like no other.

I agree. Carter was at least a nice man. I don't even think our current President is nice; certainly not honest. Lying over the coffins of the dead men whose lives were sacrificed for his political ambitions, if not for some worse reason. It's my opinion that the Gadiantons are running the show now. You get what most of you vote for....
