Chris Christie: ‘I’m a damn good Republican’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is swatting down criticism from GOP ranks that he isn’t conservative enough, saying in an interview airing Friday that he’s a “damn good Republican.”
“Is it a fair question to ask that if you ran as a Republican for president of the United States, what Republican Party do you see that would support your candidacy out there right now? How would you survive a primary process on the current set-up of the Republican Party?” NBC’s Brian Williams asked Christie, who is considered to be mulling a 2016 run.

A good Republican for NJ-I admit that you are.

But I don't think a damn good Republican would have done what you did when you embraced Obama 2 weeks before the election, and said the 2012 election didn't matter.

Because it clearly did! And we now are seeing the effects of a bad decision on the part of the electorate. You had a small part in helping Obama get reelected. Period!

So, while I admit that I may be open to supporting you in the future--depending on the circumstances, right now, your name is mud!

Is Romney's name mud with you too?

I mean, a billion dollars, running against arguably the worst record of an incumbent in recent history.
But picking a dire campaign team, and overseeing a dire campaign itself means we all end up with 4 years of OB again?

Great to apportion the blame in Christie's direction, but Romney lost it himself, but his worshippers want to look anywhere but at him.

RomneyMan, no. I couldn't disagree with you more. Romney ran a great campaign. Wasn't perfect, but damn close.
